this happens due to virtual memory.

3 Name: Neku : 2012-04-04 02:51 ID:VszmS8EU [Del]

is there a way to fix it?

>>3 try using your virus protection to scan viruses. if none,

defragment your hard drive. if fixed try freeing up space by clearing cache on the internet.

and deleting unnecessary files in the download folder
(If 7/Vista and not XP.)

also steam can sometimes do that. find your steam.exe in the task manager in processes.

>>2 >>3 >>4 Virtual Memory can be increased by increasing your pagefile. If using Windows Vista/7, right click Computer, hit Properties. Go to Advanced System Settings, hit the Advanced tab, and under Performance, click Settings. Click the advanced tab, and where it says Virtual Memory, click Change. Set it to 1.5x the amount of RAM you have. For example, if you have 2 GB of RAM (2048MB), set your page file to 3072 MB (which is 3 GB)

A temporary way to get out of the lag is to press and hold CRTL, ALT and DEL. That will bring you to your comp's Task Manager. Task Manager rarely freezes so from there you can restart your comp or close some running programs to free up your memory.

Oh, btw. I suggest you run to Best Buy or Radioshack and get a 4GB Flash Drive. Plug it in, right click it and press properties where you can use Ready Boost to add an extra memory cache.
