    >>18 Yeah.

    20 Name: Mongoose : 2012-04-01 19:07 ID:KGTdY0cp [Del]

    >>18 4 graphics cards = 4-8 monitors, depending on the graphics card its self.

I currently have a 1GB graphics card on my desktop, but would like to upgrade to a 2GB (non 3d since I think its over-rated, plus it hurts my eyes) and as far as HDD, I dont need a lot so my 750gb is good. However, I do like the sound of the processor, something my PC will never have, unfortunately.

Overall, I wish I had that computer lol

    21 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-04-01 19:59 ID:70QT14dT [Del]

    >>20 Again, is it really necessary? I'll never understand how gamers can spend between $1500 and $4500 on a computer just to run games at godlike framerates. It sounds like a waste of money to me. And who the hell needs EIGHT monitors?

Most standard game consoles run games at 30 frames a second, 60 if they're pushing it. My mid-grade Pavilion can run games like EndWar at 30 FPS or more, and personally, I think that's good enough. Yes, when you're pushing 90 it's a sight to behold, but to fork out that kind of money on what essentially boils down to a toy is foolish, in my honest opinion.

But what do I know? My laptop was designed for 3D modeling and Computer Aided Drafting; not gaming.

    22 Name: King Dude !zXqFpoplY6 : 2012-04-01 20:28 ID:jJu+SadJ [Del]

    >>21 Why does everyone think I'm only using it for gaming? I do program, and animate. Look at it this way, $2,500 may be a lot but the amount of money spent on multiple game systems is way more. I'd rather get a bad ass computer that is $2,500 and run emulated games off of it than spend $5,000 buying 8 other game systems.

    23 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-04-01 20:33 ID:70QT14dT [Del]

    >>22 I'm going to say something that many people will disagree with, but here it goes.

    Learn to live without.

Seriously, your reasons do not warrant the purchase of a $2500 system. My laptop, which cost roughly $900, can do what you are suggesting. For about $1200, you can get a desktop that will have more than enough power for the things you are suggesting.

Learn to prioritize. There is an opportunity cost involved with spending $2500 on one item, or spending $1200 on a comparable item and $1300 on other things that may be more important in the long run.

    24 Name: King Dude !zXqFpoplY6 : 2012-04-01 20:46 ID:jJu+SadJ [Del]

    >>23 Why should I live without anything? If I have the opportunity to have it chances are I'll take it. And besides, the programs I will be running isn't going to be some low powered shit.

    25 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-04-01 21:23 ID:70QT14dT [Del]

    >>24 Maybe when you're older you'll understand.

    26 Name: King Dude !zXqFpoplY6 : 2012-04-01 22:02 ID:jJu+SadJ [Del]

    >>25 Maybe you've never understood from the beginning.

    27 Name: Mongoose : 2012-04-01 22:05 ID:KGTdY0cp [Del]

Aight see, this is where we need to chill out, PC Gamers are just crazy enough to get the shit done, others just like to have the speed (ie me, especially with graphics and net) Architects need the best possible thing they can make due to the fact of the high demand in graphics... 1 screw up and you have to look EVERYWHERE in order to fix it.

now when we talk about people like this http://www.ripten.com/2008/10/10/wow-whore-has-36-accounts-raids-by-himself/ then thats when i will be speachless

    28 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-04-01 22:52 ID:70QT14dT [Del]

    >>26 And what exactly do I not understand?

Your insistence that you don't have to live without anything infers that you feel entitled to anything. When you go on about how you can use your $5000 computer to run the emulators of eight videogame systems, and that you're going to be running high end software that likely costs hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, it implies one of two things:

    1) You are some rich snob who doesn't comprehend the value of money, does not empathize with the struggle people have with finances, and therefore cannot appreciate money's value. Therefore you do not see the wisdom of moderation and safe spending practices.

    OR

    2) You buy a high end computer and then feel that you can justify the purchase by stealing hundreds to thousands of dollars in intellectual property.

    So which is it?

    29 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-04-01 22:57 ID:cDh0OxS7 [Del]

    >>27 Also, your statements were incorrect as far as architects go. To run AutoCAD 2011, the requirements are Win7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate; a minimum of 2 Gigabytes of RAM, and a respectable dual core processor. It will run fine, albeit slowly. I would know this because the machines my university uses to run AutoCAD 2011 are severely underpowered.

If you were to run something like Google Sketchup Pro, or Solid Edge v20, then you would need the above requirements plus a dedicated video card with at least 512 MB dedicated memory. So no, a $2000 machine is not at all necessary.

    30 Name: King Dude !zXqFpoplY6 : 2012-04-02 00:20 ID:jJu+SadJ [Del]

    >>28 Rich snob? I wish. If I was a rich snob I'd have my computer now and wouldn't have to find a part time job to pay for it. Right now I'm so fucking deep in turmoil it's not even funny. I have to struggle to unearth one dollar to at least have something to eat when I go to school, otherwise I have to starve through it. Try having to pay for $7,000 a month medication that I would probably be dead without, and even when I take it if I get one flue bug there's no guarantee I'll survive.

I'd trade anything I have to be happy.

    I steal and take because if I didn't I wouldn't have anything if I hadn't.

    31 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-04-02 11:19 ID:cDh0OxS7 [Del]

    >>30 With that in mind, it makes a lot more sense to me why you would do that. I'm sorry for judging you so harshly before.

    32 Name: Leigha Moscove !9tSeSkSEz2 : 2012-04-02 17:09 ID:oL96CfKk [Del]

Why must we fight over computers? To each his own. MKOLLER you really shouldn't judge people based on whether they want an expensive computer. As someone who loves computers myself, King Dude's idea was fucking awesome. As for me, my computer is really only good enough for basic stuff. If I had the time and thought I could use it without spending my whole life in front of it, I'd do something similar to King Dude. I love computers. I absolutely love them. I probably wouldn't get something for gaming though. That's just not my thing. I would find a reason to have a fucking expensive system just so I can get one. That just sounds like fun.

    33 Name: MKOLLER !YYk5m0jo12 : 2012-04-03 04:58 ID:70QT14dT [Del]

    >>32 I didn't judge King Dude based on his wanting a gaming computer. I judged him based on his reasoning for spending obscene amounts of money rashly. Once I learned why he considered it justifiable I did apologize.

That doesn't, however, change my personal stance that people should only buy what they need, instead of going overboard. One of the problems for Americans is the fact that they go overboard with spending, and it's goddamn retarded in my opinion.

Tell me you at least see that point, Leigha.
