OK. Here is a good topic. This Dollars site has a chat. This sets it apart from the rest of the sites. But is it necessary? The chat we have is public, the last one was a bit more private. The chat we have is littered with yaoi bars, two people only chats, and the beginner chats [which have no host, so you can be a super troll and annoy everyone]. So I really wonder, will a removal of a little chat room hurt the site? No. This is a site for Dollars to discuss stuff on the boards. The chat is for real time discussion. We should just remove the link, because it is useless. BUT I would love to hear you out.

I don't like nor use chatroom either, but some members like it. When we didn't have a chatroom, everyone spazzed out because they wanted one. Now we link to one. It's not really a big deal to have one, so I don't see what the problem is.

Well i think having a dollars chat is fun its where we can talk about other stuff then what we talk about on the board i mean the chat is another way to interact with the other fellow dollars then talk about whats happening in the world

if i remember correctly the chat only was linked/put on the site because of so much demand, so it wouldnt make sense to take down our most popular product. Which is true.
The only reason the last one was more private was because it was an older version. Yes theres a lot more people then before in the chats, but thats because the other one was causing issues with the actual site. If it didnt, im sure we would still be using the old one.

You have a point, I'll admit, OP. The chat does seem to have a lot of residual issues, like people constantly complaining about something out of our jurisdiction, or people coming here with the wrong impression.

However, if we didn't have the link, we'd be back to square 1 - people would start complaining about the lack of a chatroom, and at least Main and Random, maybe Suggestions, or any board that will be mis-posted on following its removal, people will start posting alternative chat sites anyway. We'd get a lot of board spam like,
"HEY IF YOU WANT TO TALK TO OTHER MEMBERS GO HERE"
"NO GO HERE WE MADE A GROUP FOR THE DOLLARS"
"OH REALLY SO DID WE"
"YOU SHOULD USE THIS OTHER CHAT PROGRAM"
etc.

Right now, with the link in place, at least we can defer people to that without much issue. Not sure how it would turn out if we couldn't, but it's worth a thought.

The chat room is simply a necessity to the authenticity of the site. If the chat room were to be removed, a major piece of the cosplay is taken from the site. This is, after all, a Dollars site.

1)The chat set-up in the DRRR anime was not linked to the dollars site itself, so by saying that the chat adds to this feeling of authenticity, it's actually sort of detracting from it.

2)This isn't a fansite in the first place, so the word "Cosplay" should not be thrown out there in order to describe the way the site operates.

3) I think the really major reasons for not taking down the chat have really all been stated prior to this.

It gives people a chance to talk about serious matters and allows them to have fun along the way, I just think we need ground rules like no yaoi or those innapropiate sex dream fantasies...

I'm not really against the chat rooms. Granted I don't use them much, but it's fun to pop in from time to time and see if anyone from the BBS is on and see if I can't get in on a decent conversation every now and then. I don't really see the chats hurting us much, IMO.

Why is IRC ignored? It's right on the right side of the screen but no-one's ever there. We can own that room. Chances are, none of the people that talk about dislikable topics will even find it.

i only use the chat when im bored and trying to find a room with some intelligence but that usually fails anyway when im free im on the irc chat i made it a dedicated chat since it was just open for anyone to take... but i think its better then the site chat i use both even though im the only one in irc at any given time

We can only wait and see if we get another chat. The old chat was spectacular because our people were in it. I don't think we mix well it the Drrr-chat people but it is what it is. Don't enter chats that you don't like and leave ones that go bad. Problem Solved, right?

also, i only included the curse words because it seems like there are a billion and a half threads complaining about chat room material when it's really so damn simple to get around it and actually have a semi-intelligent conversation with people, so long as you put just a tiny amount of effort into it.

I kinda liked the old chat, I mean, it was the chat I first used, and stuff, and there were less one to one rooms, sex chats until it got taken down (._. One perv, the whole pack comes, amirite), and it just felt nicer, (plus it had my favorite teal icon orz). Though I don't like the new chat, I still think it's necessary since some people might flip shit if it were taken down. Meh. My argument is mostly invalid.

the main reason people have such a problem with this post is because its been said over n over n over again. Its taxing on the patience to have to read the same thing 20 times.
the only thing you can to is go into rooms, and ask the people doing _____ activity that you dont approve of to move to a different chat site. Theres pretty much a 99% they will get pissed n not do it. Its either that or beg n plead the chat creator to give you powers to invade a room and kick everyone out of it
