Okay, so. My tumblr’s name is “La’cryma’s Big Bad Wolf”.
La’cryma (La-CRIM-ah) is the name of a world I created for this original story I’v basically been working on for, like, forever. In La’cryma there are 13 Gods and Goddesses (think like Greek, Norse, etc. Mythologies). My background is a picture I found on Google a while ago, that looks almost exactly how I had imagined Tharajriken (basically the La’cryma version of Mt. Olympus or Asgard).

(I don’t know who the artist is, and if anyone does please tell me.)

So, I wanted to make a map of La’cryma. Thing is, my hand drawn maps tend to look like utter $h!7. So I was wondering if anyone knew where I could download a good (preferably free) program that I could make a map on?

P.S.
I originally posted this in Art, but someone suggested that I might find more help here, since I'm looking for a program.

AutoREALM. People usually use that to make RPG map. It's kinda of simple, but it can get a good effect. Mine are always in black and white, never tried to give it a 'old' color.
Here's the link: http://autorealm.sourceforge.net/

I, however, know how to make this effect on Photoshop. A little bit of overlay and burn can solve the problem. If I find a more accurate tutorial, I put that here afterwards.
Hope it helps.

Hmmmm I'm not entirely sure. I suppose you can just get someone to make the map for you, or practice map making yourself. However, another option is to make the story in like a game or something via Warcraft 3's World Editor, Halo: Custom Edition, or Unreal Development Kit (UDK). If you don't want to make it a game, but perhaps a movie even, I suggest Halo: Custom Edition or UDK.

The programs you need for editing regardless of how you want it made are about the same.

For 2D Editing
Adobe Photoshop 5.1

Get Here:
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6341895/ADOBE_PHOTOSHOP_CS5.1_EXTENDED_EDITION_[thethingy]_
(you need a bittorrent client to open it. I suggest uTorrent more than anything else.)

For 3D Editing:
Blender

Get Here:
http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/

For Code Editing:
Bluefish

Get Here:
http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/download.html

For Movie and Cutscene Editing:
Ezvid

Get Here:
http://www.ezvid.com/

For Putting It All Together:
Warcraft 3 World Editor (get the game Warcraft 3 to get this)
UDK
Halo: Custom Edition

Get Them Here:

>>4 If you need a program for compressing and expanding files, get WinRar Corporate.

If you need a program to burn disks, get InfraRecorder.

>>5 If you need a program to run a server if you are going to make it into a game, I suggest either Windows Server 2003 or 2008.

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise (x86)
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4685277

Windows Server 2008 Enterprise (x64)
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6315935

A third option is to run a server off of Linux.
http://xubuntu.org/

A fourth option is to run it off another OS like Windows XP or Windows 2000.

PS
Sorry for the triple post, I keep forgetting stuff.
