Now, when I see a new/remake of a handheld come out, my bullshit alarms go off when I see a price tag of $50. Although you say pre-orders START at $50, I hardly think that's the case considering that pre-orders in Australia start at a whopping $408 for a model with Wi-fi and 3G, and $348 for one with just Wi-fi (and that's with the Aus dollar being stronger than the US dollar).
Also, I'm plenty pissed that UMDs won't be supported and that everything will have to be digital. Call me paranoid, but I like having a physical disk as backup, rather than relying on my internet connection and hoping no more hurr durr hackers moments have happened again.
Finally, the removal of video support irks me as well. I understand that they needed to compromise somewhere, but I would have liked to have the option to choose whether to watch something or play something on the train, rather than the choices being "Play whatever game my sister hasn't corrupted somehow" and "Watch the bland scenery".

@ Pintapau I understand that relying on the physical back up is fine but maybe digital is better. Why would i want to go and look for a game/movie when i already have it on my system. What happens if i lose my game/movie. Then what? There's a thousand things that could happen.
The money thing is simple. Money is money and you have to make it some how. Later the price will go down anyway so why go nuts for the price.
There's plenty of other things to do on it to have fun. Of course there maybe problems. Every system does.

I don;t like touch screens very much, and the fact that it wont support UMD discs pisses me off. I much prefer an actual disc rather than it all being digital. It's like when the Navy decided to get rid of all our paper records and just make the records all digital instead; fucking stupid.

HELLZ YEAH I'M GETTING THIS!! Purely out of the NEED to play Persona 4: The Golden (pretty sure that's what they're calling it) but still!! I bought a PSP so I could play Persona 3 Portable and I shall buy this for Persona 4! (Man I feel like a sap... -__-')

Anyways, as I stated in my original post, the pre-order prices are nowhere near that ($348 to $408 in Australia, the most overcharged country in the world for gaming). The only way I can think of the Vita being $50 is if Sony has a VERY generous trade-in scheme, which with Sony being the money-grubbing bastards they are I highly doubt will happen.

Jeez... I'm more interested in the games they will be offering.
But I'm not sure how I like the idea of substituting the umd slot for a touchpad... I dont think the touch pad is neccessary but I do understand that it would set it somewhat apart from other devices.
I don't think I will be getting it.. Lol I think I'll be getting myself a pspgo instead... Lol despite what I just said about the umd's... I'm lookin for something on the go. And touch screen/camera/double dual sticks... Not too interested.
I am interest to see how comfortable it would be to play games regularly then all of a sudden have to use the touch screen to proceed in game ....
