Like... A Dollars radio station?

3 Name: MKOLLER : 2011-09-04 23:53 ID:c3YdC+G2 [Del]

I believe he's talking about Citizen's Band radio. I wholeheartedly support the idea, and I want to get a CB radio when I have the money.

Whoa...that idea NEVER crossed my mind. Fu^king awesome though, I support it.

5 Name: MKOLLER : 2011-09-05 01:33 ID:c3YdC+G2 [Del]

The coolest part is we can use our Dollars names as our Handles/Callsigns. So, like, "This is Dollars MKOLLER reporting in."

OMFG. That would be awesome, so just to be clear... It's like the chat system, but on radio's right?

7 Name: l1b3r4t0r : 2011-09-05 08:50 ID:5Z2alf5t [Del]

this is totally genius

8 Name: MKOLLER : 2011-09-05 09:35 ID:c3YdC+G2 [Del]

>>6 That is correct. It could be done on CB Radio, and possibly with GMRS/FRS Walkie Talkies. Research will be needed to see what frequencies we can use.

Alright, so looking at the frequencies charts, CB frequencies range from 26.965 Mhz to 27.405 Mhz, divided into 40 channels. Two way radio frequency channels (GMRS and FRS) are a lot higher (see graphic).

GMRS frequencies need a radio license, but FRS frequencies do not. FRS has a lower range though, but I guess there isn't anything you can do about that.

Remember, with both the range is limited to a few miles, and if you're using one type of radio, you can only connect to those on that type because of the frequency differences. Therefore, I think the members of the Dollars should vote on what frequencies all Dollars members should use.

Here are the CB Frequencies. Note: We cannot use channel 9 (it's for emergency broadcasts) or channel 19 (main channel for truckers and special vehicles).

That said, I would recommend CB Channel 24 and FRS Channel 12.

And one last note: There is a national SOS group that recommends using GMRS/FRS Channel 1 in emergency situations as a last resort. So be sure to remember that and have one ready in case of emergency. For more info, go to: National SOS

That would be the coolest thing ever!

12 Name: emf : 2011-09-06 09:59 ID:nIK8lnvl [Del]

This would be cool, but there is no one around me. Even less so are the number of people around me who will get CB radios.

This Idea is Great and I Support it To!

Though who has a Father or Mother that is rich enough to keep the radio freqency on for more then a month, can make it so that we The Dollars have a radio freqency all to are selfs, and the freqency is world wide.

Do we have someone like that in The Dollars?

14 Name: MKOLLER : 2011-09-06 13:01 ID:c3YdC+G2 [Del]

>>13 That's not how it works. Basically anyone can transmit the frequency, at any time. The way it works is if two or more people are on the same frequency at the same time they can communicate with each other. So, I could be out and about transmitting at, say, 467.6625 Mhz from a portable walkie talkie. Someone comes along on the same frequency, I'd be able to talk to them.
