So the other day I started downloading podcasts from HowStuffWorks, and I was listening to some of the ones I downloaded last night. One of the first ones I listened to was "The Down Low on CB Radio." It was a fascinating talk that is a must-listen (you can find it for free on iTunes under HowStuffWorks TechStuff).
I'm really considering buying a CB radio myself (since you can't build them legally under FCC regulations), and I was wondering what others thought about the technology. As dated as it is, I think it's cool that you're essentially having a 1-5 mile chat relay, and it would be pretty awesome to find other members of the Dollars through it. It'd be like, DB (Dollars-Band) radio! But that's just a fantasy of mine.

From what I heard, emergency services get reserved channels. If so, is he still allowed to listen in?
