Today, August 5 2011, my hotmail account stopped working. When I would try to sign in, it gave me a screen saying the site couldn't let me in. I signed off MSN messenger to see if logging off and logging back in would help, but then it prevented me from going in altogether. I tried it on multiple accounts, but none of them let me in either (I would get the error message that my password had expired, but it doesn't let me into any account or hotmail to change it, so...). I managed to get on another email account that wasn't linked to any of the others, but hotmail still doesn't work. I've asked a few people, and they say everything is still working for them. If this has ever happened to someone else, could you let me know how you fixed it?
It could be a problem with the browser. Either something on the page fails to load (causing it to crash) or it doesn't register that you're trying to access the server.
You can either try using a different browser or downloading Windows Live Mail and using it to connect. That usually helps for me.
