Welcome to the Technology Board,

I felt this thread would be handy, and reduce crowding... I hope this board gets used a lot more than i think it will.

In any case,
Got a problem with something? Your phone, your TV, your computer? Hell, even your gaming systems...

Then post it up here, were here to help each other right? Then lets make the effort. I mean, we have a pretty huge population, I'm sure somebody will be able to help you out. So good luck!

I have an Itouch (I'm using it nao btw lol) and it's screen has been damaged and now there's a black spot on the side. It's like a huge blob that takes up 1/6 th of my screen. By asking my friends, they tell me it's about 100$ to fix, and I looked up how to fix it, but I don't want to break it in the process... Amy alternative? >< I can't find any friends who would fix it for me any cheaper..
Btw, my itouch is a 4th gen 8g. thanks in advance

That big blotch you talked about sounds like you ruptured the LCD screen and the crystals inside it as well. Those crystals would have leaked away from the rupture and damaged the screen, so the whole LCD screen would have to be replaced most likely, along with the touch sensors if they were damaged too.

Now, I might be wrong as I don't have any Apple products at all, but I have based what I've stated from a similar thing occurring on one of my LCD monitors. I wouldn't know the cost to repair it, but it would be expensive. Unfortunately, if I am right there are no alternatives - you either pay to get it repaired, do some possibly rubbish repairs yourself, or live with it.

I will admit to doing some searching, and the best price I could find was $130 in Australia, so you are probably best to go with your $100 friend if you can trust him.

NEED HELP WITH:
WD 1TB External HD

PROBLEM:
For some reason, it won't stay on. It will connect, work properly for about 5-10 minutes, and then it restarts itself, and autoplays.
I have no idea if it's an internal problem, a problem with the cords being loose, or my laptop having some sort of USB issue or something.
All of my music, manga, and books from the last 10 years are on it.... I will go mad. x_x;;

TIA<3

A simple way to test this would be to plug it into something else, if the problem persists then it's either the cords or the HD.

On some things, large External Harddrives simply don't get enough energy to stay on long - IE: My 1TB External can't be plugged into my PS3 because it doesn't get enough power from the USB to stay active, it's constantly flickering on and off. This problem does not occur on my Desktop.

So first thing to do is to try plugging it into something else, a desk top preferably.

>>11 Is it one of the 'green'/eco-friendly ones? If so, they generally go into sleep mode when they have not been used for a period of time. When the HDD has to be accessed, it then has to turn itself back on.

Although the fact that the autoplay window comes back makes me believe this isn't the case.
