i'd love to start learning to code, likely with python, but i'm not really sure where to start/what i should focus on. does anyone have any suggestions?

Download python from the windows store and a compiler (python's like a library, where as the compiler is an app that uses the library). You can use VScode, it's a pretty popular app (on PC).

After that, just watch intro to python videos on YouTube. And maybe a "Setting up VScode for python" video too if you're lost on that.

Another tip is to solve problems using whatever you learned.
After going through the python tutorials and learning the different concepts of programming. Try applying what you have learned on solving problems. For example, write a program that ask you for a date, then check whether is it a valid date and/or a leap year and prompt out the message on it.

ProjectEuler has a lot of mathematical/computer programming problems, which you can try. https://projecteuler.net/

leetCode also when you are confident. Just keep learning.

I could display 100% ads from app creator or i can show 20% or i could pay $17 a year to not show any app creator ads to the first 1,000 users either way they still show ads in the app :(

I'm going to pay the fee but I still need to show some ads less exposure than the app creator ads! I need to cover all expenses to make the app a better experience with less ads its a damned if i do damned if i don't situation

We are still showing our ads but less of them! The ads we display were never as obnoxious as the app creator ads I hope you can understand its not an easy choice but we need to generate funds so we can achieve better things in the future

I can give an answer for any future dweller:

It's quite easy but also tediously long and incredibly resource intensive for your computer. By using a tool like a tripcode engine (https://github.com/meriken/merikens-tripcode-engine-v3) you can generate tripcodes based on a specific set of rules.

If you set generation rules that are too complex, it may take impossible amounts of time (centuries+) so keep it reasonable.

(PS I'm gonna try the Sage checkmark for this post because I don't know what it does lol)

@Capo "Sage" is a term originating on 4chan and other early imageboards. I don't know why it's named the way it is and I don't care enough to check, but it essentially makes it so that a saved post doesn't bump the thread it's posted in via hiding its posting timecode; this keeps the thread behind other threads that haven't seen as much recent activity. Until someone posts in this thread with the 'sage' box unticked, this thread will remain behind the "the real dollar g" thread.

Hello, it's 2023. What program do people use to generate custom tripcodes? As much as possible, nothing to do with codes or building one since I know nothing about programming or coding. At best, I was able to understand how the older programs work like tripcode explorer and Tripper+ from this site, http://tripcode.50webs.com/ , but unfortunately they don't work anymore(?) or it doesn't run on my PC. I've tried Meriken and another program whose name I forgot, but I find it too confusing; again, I don't know coding and all that sheningans. So if anyone could recommend any programs, that would be appreciated.

So, there's this thing on the wall hanging between my kitchen and living room. I'm staying in my aunt's house, so I didn't set it up or anything. If the picture doesn't load correctly, it's a white rectangular/trapazoid-shaped box with a diamond-shape branded onto top. It has some slits carved out of the top and bottom [like for air flow, like for a fan or something.] I've been to and from the house for years, never knowing what this is, as it's never given me any problems before.

But today, about an hour ago, it started buzzing. Not like an alarm, but like it was vibrating? I took off the cover (that's the white box) and underneath was a citcuit-ey looking setup. With two wires running from the wall into two screws. I'm guessing it's direct feed from the power, so I didn't touch the exposed parts of the wires, or I'd be dead probably. BUT, I did move the wires away from the circuit a bit so they'd stop hitting against the curcuitey thing and buzzing as loudly. Now it's quiet, but I can still hear the buzzing from the wires.

The kitchen smells kinda like the taste when you press your tongue against a 9-volt battery (ozone...?), and we are having lots of rain right now; so I'm guessing the device is freaking out over the increase in humidity and with all the extra water in the air it's shooting electricity into the air as well as going where it needs to? Hopefully it's just that and not some carbon-monixide-esque detector (the other detectors would be going off it were that, so it's probably not a carbon-monoxide, but there are detectors for other airborne chemicals) that buzzes when I'm about to die. But even if that is what is happening, I still don't know what it does. I google-image-searched for it, and got nothing back.

Don't necessarily need a misskey account to follow people. So long as the person is on a federated app that uses the same protocols you should be fine.

Honestly, the biggest thing about learning security is...find something you want to know more about. Then dive deep.

Security isn't a specific set of knowledge, it's curiosity. It's the ability to learn about something and REALLY understand it, not just "this is what I was told and it's good enough.

Security is "I've done this and I understand exactly how it works, and because I understand how it works, I understand how the people that don't understand it are making mistakes.
