Since the older martial arts thread didn't really have any kind of questions laid out I thought it was about time for a new Martial Art thread with some questions.

What Martial Art/s style do you practice: ( Tae Kwon-do an style ITF )

How long have you been doing it for: ( all most over 8 years )

what grade/belt are you: ( 1st dan black belt )

Location: (England UK South west)

And yes you can ask any questions about any Martial Art if you can help please do like even links to videos on youtube with the Martial Art an style in question

hey, sorry I can't answer that because i've never practiced one, but i would really like to start. I was thinking of a martial art that doesn't fully rely on "raw" strength. Any recommendations?

>>2 Martial art's do require a level of strength but you don't need to be mussel man, *Bruce Lee* bulked up his mussels to look good on camera in his films, where as his original martial art's style required him to have a whole lot less mussel build, I,e you don't have to be a body builder to do martial art's, More to do with overall fitness/stamina.

To further answer your question only few martial art's really come to mind, Aikido, Kendo, Fencing, and Kyudo if you can find a place that does it I,e Archery.

Also depending on the my own experience in Tae Kwon-do lessons usually revolve around anything from "fitness, sparring , or Patterns i,e a set rang of movements", but usually not all in the same lesson but are based round of one those three.

If anyone else has any other martial art's suggestions for >>2 Tomoe please do.

>>2 I personally recomend a MA (martial art) more orientated towards self-defense, but don't worry much if you are not specially strong or have much endurance, because if you practice any MA the same class will make you improve your overall fitness, maybe it will be hard in the first weeks but I hope it will worth the effort for you ^^

And answering >>1

I'm Practicing Nihon Tai-Jitsu (but before I was a year with

Tae Kwon-do, I don't remember if it was ITF or WTF)

I've been practicing it for 9 months now

Now I have yellow belt, but hopefully in June i will be orange

I'm practicing in Spain, near Barcelona

>>6 cool, I know there is at least different 4+ styles of Tae Kwon-do so don't worry which it was,

Nihon Tai-Jitsu, with the "Nihon" in front means Japanese style, someone may correct me if I am wrong.

8 Name: Retep : 2017-04-30 15:23 ID:KSojVOKg [Del]

>>7 Yeah exactly, it may seem redundant because all the thecniques are from old MAs from Japan, but Tai-jitsu was not originated there, it was from France (if I am not mistaken), so when they created the sport added "Nihon" to remark the origin of the thecniques.

I practised karate here in sweden and i only just got my black belt first dan. but now i see that the martial art hasnt helped me so much when it came to fighting in the streets so i was thinking on practising Jeet kune doe for u who doesnt know what it is, it is the martial art that Bruce Lee created, a mix from Wing chun, tae kwon-do and many more. for me it has all the counter attacks to all the styles that exist, correct me if im wrong. and i think that when it comes to fighting in very close range then Jeet kune doe and Wing chun is the best style there is because if fighters get very close to each other they dont know what to do so they trying to get a grip on to the opponents neck and to a headblock or what ever the fuck its called so... im telling you that jeet kune do is very use full in street fighting where there are no rules =)

>>9 I do know of Bruce Lee and know a bits about Jeet kune do,

but I highly doubt that is can "counter attacks to all the styles that exist" if you know anything about martial arts it's like a rock paper scissors game if anything.

Like for a example if you trained in Jeet kune do and don't put in the extra hours of training vs some who put in the extra hours of training in another martial art you will lose,

but we can break it down even more it would also depend on how good your martial arts instructor/master is at teaching as not all people who teach are good at teaching, they might know their stuff but bad at teaching/passing their knowledge to people,

I have heard this saying *there are two kinds of people those who have the talent for martial arts and those who don't*,

I am sad to say it's true as have witness this my self when I have been training in lessons, when having to watch some others train it's kind of hard to watch as it seems to take them almost 4X longer or even longer to get the right moves, but I would still cheer them on because we have to try keep everyone positive.

>>9 why are you fighting in the streets? also how long did it take you to get your black belt?
I do know there are also different styles of karate but I couldn't tell you the names of said styles, also most of all martial arts are for self defence not to go round the streets being people up for no reason,
yes they can be used for destructive purpose, but you would be dishonouring the art if you where doing so.

>>12 what u just said is true but when u said that the martial arts is like rock paper scissors i got a bit skeptical because when it come to Bruce lee fighting with someone then he will win because as u said, he who puts in extra hours wins but after bruce lee mastered the art of wing chun he tried all different kinds of martial arts and writing on his notes u know when it comes to martial arts then bruce lee dominates in that thing and why he choose to make his new style almost 60 or 70 percent like wing chun is because it is the only martial art with really closerange fighting technique which is very useful when ur fighting agains ur opponenst that mostly thinks about finnishing a fight by coming close and give the finnishing blow or make a grip on the throat.About what style of karate i was practicing i cant tell and ive been practicing karate for about 10 years started when i was 6-7 years. And when u asked about why i fight in the streets, i dont, i only fought because of self defense but got beaten up because i was in some positions that i didnt know what to do so i lost the fight and was lying there on the ground till my friends picked me up, why would u state that i fight without a reason dude? I as a dollar, want to change shit like violence without a reason or violence because of stupid reasons like: oh you looked at me in a strange way now imma have to beat u up.

>>13 You didn't explain that part in your other post >>9 why you where fighting in the street, so now it makes more sense, also sorry if it came off like I was accusing you.

If I remember rightly Bruce Lee changed a lot of the large circular motions from wing chun because he thought it was a lot of wasted movements/energy and made the motions smaller.

Being a first dan black belt is the real beginning of the martial art not the end, everything before it was to build you up for the first dan.

>>18 Oh wow that's really cool, hope your knee gets better soon matey :D

>>19 oh nice you been doing that for 12 years I have some catching up to do then in my own training, I did know someone in my Tae kwon-do class who left that also did jujitsu, no idea what grade he was in jujitsu :/

>>20 I remember reading somewhere something like that, I
believe it was like what the founder of Aikido said it was not a martial art,

How dose the grading/ranks work in Aikido?
