Firstly let's kick this off no pun intended -
why the title has "beta" in the title because this is for everyone who is interested in Tae kwon-do and newer version of the opening thread will be needed to up date it so newer people don't have to scroll through the entire thread worth of info, so the next one will be beta 2 of this thread and so on.

Secondly some ground rules,
(1) no arguing on who's Tae Kwon-do style is better over another style or you will just be ignored, this is to help people and to help understand TKD better.

(2) If you are going to say something rude about another style you must say *in my own bias opinion* as every one is entitled to their own opinion.

There is more than one style of Tae kwon-do out there, just as there are other style of karate and kung fu.

Main styles of Tae kwon do -

First: we must start with the founding style of TKD the ITF "international tae kwon-do federation" which was founded in March 22, 1966

Second: we move on to the WTF "world tae kwon-do federation" which was founded in May 28, 1973, Also the WTF "world tae kwon-do federation" is in the olympics.

Third: Rhee Tae kwon-do the only thing I know about the two last styles is that they likely how Tae kown-do was first looked when Choi Hong Hi was going
around teaching TKD in the original style that he developed with some others, which likely looked a bit more like karate because Choi Hong Hi
trained in the shotokan karate style and obtained a 2nd dan which at that time was fairly high rank in a martial art, while he was living in Japan during part of the
Japanese occupation of Korea.

Fourth: TAGB

If there are any other Styles of Tae Kwon-do out there please add in a reply, and any other info you think that will be hopefully, also feel free to ask questions and say what grade you are. :D

I my self train in the ITF style, I have been training in TKD for the last 7 going on 8 years and I am a 1st Dan
I also put off my black belt grading for 2 years because I just didn't feel I was ready mainly because my instructor kept picking things up that I was doing wrong :P and he is a 7th Dan which makes him a Master, so there is no way I would ignore what he says.
