I want to learn some art of swordfighting. Fencing, sparring, or... Really anything. I own two swords but have no use for them unless I can learn s wordfighting.

I don't know what kind of swords you have, but fencing uses 'foils'. It's really fun!!! I recommend starting ^^ There are different types of fencing. Foil is mostly brainwork and strategizing and specific forms and ways to hit; it's not the most related to what normal people consider 'sword fighting'. But epee is also a type of fencing which is really cool. It uses more of a 'hit without getting hit' kind of idea. I only fence foil (and I don't technically know how to sword fight), so I'm sorry if this wasn't much help T_T But, I /can/ at least assure you that fencing is extremely fun and recommend you start if you're interested! :)

p.s. I own a samurai sword and a modernized gladiator sword. I dont know much about the samurai sword though. just that its made in that style.

plus if you really want to learn how to use a sword, I would highly suggest thinking about *Kendo* as it's the only main stream way you will get to learn techniques on how to use a katana "samurai sword", and you maybe able to even learn how to use two swords if you are lucky, because some places can teach it.

I have a neighbor that had a few of these swords, this one was pretty beat up, so ive been fixing it.

I'd recommend the bokken (wooden training sword) which is 10 dollars. It's durable and safer for a beginner to use.

After using the bokken for a about 6 months or so. Move up to the iaito. That way you can have a better feel for an actual katana. Also you reduce the risk of cutting yourself upon opening the katana.
( yes if you use improper technique when drawing your sword, the scabbard will ware down and eventually break. A lot of amateurs lose fingers because of this. You could also get a metal scabbard.)

wow, learning sword fighting would really be impressive. I have been meaning to try and find a school that teaches kendo, but I realized that there aren't many.

I don't know... Maybe. But there are some places that they wont ship certain items to. Like small conceivable weapons wont ship to large cities.
