alright guys :) so ever since I was young I loved the Lord of the Rings series and was mesmerized by Legolas and his awesome archery skills XD !! Since my 6th birthday I have been asking my dad to get me a bow and some arrows to learn but I was to young and he turned me down every year on my birthday after that :( but, this year I turned 15 and he surprised me with everything I needed to learn XD !!!! As soon as I began t practice I realized how hard this was going to be, not only because its archery but also because I had to have a long bow. Surprisingly though, I hit the target 4 out of 10 times on my first practice and once was on the bulls-eye :D I was just wondering if you guys had any tips for me and other starters .

Ah, another one who was bewitched by Legolas's awesome skills. I picked it up by myself, so I have no real tips >.< But what I usually do is (just a tip for a LOTR fan) imagine that I'm being attacked from a distance, and that the target is the heart of your enemy, say...an orc. Don't know if that helps but imagination can get you pretty far :P Don't worry about hitting the target, but instead, relax. There's sort of "feel" that you get once you're relaxed, and that helps a lot.

I'm friends with the 3rd ranking junior bowman in England, and he tells me to use the tip of the arrow to aim, and set it in the center of the target. Best form is hook your three middle fingers under the arrow and draw them to the corner of your mouth. You should be looking down the arrow. If not, put your fingers an inch or so below the arrow.
Also, your imagination won't get you very far in life.

Do lots and lots of sit ups... It's painful but it helps with pulling back the bow especially if it's 25lbs and up. I played lax for a while, and then went out for some archery one day. You will not believe how much easier it is to pull and release the bow after you work out your arms for so long :D Anyways, build up your arm strength and the reward will be promising :)
