Before you flip out, I am aware there are two baseball threads here which both suck, so I'm making this thread to do the great game of baseball some justice. Sports board needs some love.

Baseball is bat and ball sport played between opposing teams of nine players. The two teams take turns batting and fielding, with the objective of winning the game by hitting the ball, scoring runs and getting the other team's batters and runners out.. but you probably already knew that much, right?

Baseball is a game filled with strategy. Teams must know the ins and outs of not only themselves, but their opponents. Whether or not a team can catch on to the tendencies of their opponents can make or break a game, a series, or even a season. There's no clock to kill, so it's team vs. team to the bitter end, too. It's the stuff of legends, I tell you!

Let's hear your favorite teams, or (if you have any) state your baseball rants/news/praises/rumors/predictions/whatevers here! Do you play the game? I'd like to hear about it!

I'm a Rangers fan, and I'm really sad to see Napoli go. However, I'm okay with him going the the Red Sox. A bunch of my family are Red Sox fans, so I like them. Boston seems to like them Texas catchers, though. Salty and Napoli on the same team lol

Now I need a new favorite Ranger, because Soto doesn't impress me. :/

What do you think on Greinke signing with Dodgers? He is worth 150 million? (2nd best paid pitcher in history, I can't guess what will Verlander or Strasburg be paid when will become free agents...)

I'm personally starting to fangirl now that there's a much bigger possibility of us trading for R.A. Dickey. Dat knuckleballl.

It's difficult to trade for Dickey if the Mets want 2 of our top prospects, if they asked for Ellsbury it would be OK... I also would like to see another knucler after n.49, the way R.A. pitches is devastating for hitters.

I'm hoping the Rangers make a trade for Dickey centered around Olt or Cruz. If that happens, Haru would be most pleased. The idea of moving Ogando to starter while we wait for Lewis to recover doesn't sit well with me.

At this point, it would have been better Young + 1 starter (Feliz or Martin Perez) for Dickey, I don't know if Mets want to cash for a 30yo, and there's Wright on 3B. But the rotation would be good if Dickey goes with his former team (Darvish, R.A, Harrison, Holland).

Perez doesn't really have starter potential to me, so I wouldn't mind us trading him off. The Mets just signed Wright to that massive 8 year deal, so I don't see them trading him off for a good 5-6 of that

I'm still not sure what I think about re-signing Hammy. I think he's got maybe one stellar year left in him before he starts really slowing down, but at this point, Rangers fans are looking for a familiar face, a captain (now that Young is gone). So I expect us to sign Hammy.

I'd be just fine with us signing Upton though, the guy is a solid 5-tool player and could complement the lineup greatly.

So, Youk is a Yankee now. I ain't even mad. (At this point, we feel obliged to sign Swisher...)

Swisher signs with the Indians, Pierzynski to the Rangers, Hamilton to the Angels, and Napoli still hasn't officially signed with the Red Sox, although it looks like the Jays want to take the AL by storm next year.

Anyone here plan on watching the upcoming World Baseball Classic? Also, pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training on February 11th.

I went to it a couple of years ago in Miami. It was really great. I'm not planning on going again, but it is very interesting. Also, my boy Craig Kimbrel is gonna be pitching so I can't wait to see how he does.

The Red Sox inspired me to play fastpitch softball for my school, which is kind of funny because the year I really started following them, they collapsed. Also if anyone else has heard these rumors Bryce Harper is probably the last person they should be looking to trade for because they've already got too many outfielders. What they need is good starting pitching...

I'm a fan of the Japanese team Hanshin Tigers! I also used to play baseball, represented my country in Japan in my teenage years. It's really underrated in my country so it would be great if more people could understand its brilliance!

In England we do have some baseball some teams/clubs but it's not considered a major sport over here, as there are very few places that do run teams/clubs.

I was watching Diamond no Ace and I got bored since I have no baseball knowledge. All I know is when you hit a home run, You can run all over the field and win a point. Correct me if I'm wrong.
