Yes! The extreme sport of paintball happens to be my favorite! If any of you people need some tips before you go paintballing for your first time, or are interested in trying the sport, then I can tell you a whole load of information!

Also, if you have some pretty sweet experiences in the sport, then share them here!

Whether you're a beginner, or a seasoned vet, this is the thread about paintball for all.

Wow this is pretty convenient

I might be paintballing this weekend with some friends of mine for the first time. Is there anything I should expect other than what's already obvious? That is to say, paint and balls :V

Yeah, paintballs do hurt, but not too bad, but you can expect to find some welts the next day. Jeans help, since they're tough and durable, and tennis shoes should do nicely. I myself run around in sweat pants and a t-shirt, but I'm crazy like that, and am comfortable getting shot.

Don't be a passive player. Being aggressive helps make those critical moves in a game. However, don't be too aggressive, otherwise you'll get shot up in a matter of seconds.

Know where your team mates are going in the begining, and also know what they are planning to do, so that you don't run into the same bunker of someone else. (Too many people in the same bunker means that someone will be vulnerable. 1-2 people in a bunker at a time, depending on size.)

Communicate with your team. Shout out where they are if you see them, for it will tell your teammates where to look.

To aim: but the marker (the gun) up to eye level and between your eyes, so that you can see on both sides of the marker. Keep your elbows down while doing so. The air tank acts as a shoulder stock, so use it to absorb recoil (unless the tank is too big, or if the tank is mounted on your back via an air line.) Also keep in mind that paintballs curve a lot, so see where your shots are landing and make adjustments. Even if you can't hit someone, you can usually scare them back into their cover.

One last thing: since it is your first time, have fun! Don't get discouraged if you didn't hit someone, or if someone tags you out. It took me about 3 visits at my local paintball field before I got the hang of things.

I've only gone paintballing once. I sucked the first round or two, but started kicking more ass in the later rounds. In the last one, only two people were left - me, and a friend on the other team. I think he barely beat me (pure chance).

Anyway, it was super-fun.

Nice. One on ones can always be tricky. It usually goes down to whoever has the most skill, most tact, the most patience, and sometimes even a little luck.
But I was a passive player when I first started, so I didn't do well at all my first time.

8 Name: DAK075 : 2011-07-15 00:56 ID:zz2u8w+K [Del]

Different types of paintball:

Three types:
Woodsball
Speedball
XBall

Woodsball is scenario based. Its played on huge fields in the woods, and involves a lot more strategy. Teams can be large, and games could last for days (if you're pretty hardcore, but the average game doesn't last that long.)

Speedball - This is what you will usually see professional teams playing on TV. This game type is on a closed field, about 100 yards in length. Teams of 5-7 people are usually played. Inflatable bunkers are speedball's cover and trademark. Due to a small field, Speedball games go by quickly, making firefights intense, as people rarely stop shooting.

XBall - A Mix between speedball and woodsball. Teams and fields are not as big as woodsball, but not as small as speedball. Can be scenario based. I don't know much on XBall too much, so sorry there.

My first match paintball match ever was about 6 or 7 years ago and I got shot right on my ass within a minute of the match beginning xD Still, it was fun and very exciting! I stopped for about 2 years due to personal and economic reasons but I managed to get my hands on a Tippmann A5 and two Piranha markers today so I will be returning to the field hopefully this month to paint some people >:D

Awesome everyone. Keep it up!

Getting your first marker and you're an amateur?

Then try out Spyder paintball markers. Easy to use, maintain, and customize, they are solid markers for speedball or woodsball. Not only that, they come at a fairly cheap price of about $80-300. Other equipment will cost you more, but the marker is one of two important pieces of equipment, the second being the goggles.

Speaking of goggles, try to get a pair that has anti-fog lenses. If they're too expensive, then just buy some anti-fog fluid.

If you want to play tournments though, you may want some higher class markers, which range from about $500 up, dependning on division.

13 Name: Misuto!M4ZBq07Cs. : 2011-07-30 16:24 ID:ny5Fit+h [Del]

So I just had my first paintball session. God it was awesome fun.

I never even tried airsoft before, so this was a new thing for me entirely. It was a pain with the rental equipment though - goggles fogged up real easily, guns were slow and cumbersome to use - but for a first experience, it was pretty fun.

I'm not sure when the next time I'll get to go is, but if it becomes a regular thing I'll consider the equipment recommendations in this thread.

14 Name: DAK075 : 2011-07-31 13:52 ID:zz2u8w+K [Del]

@13

Yeah, rental equipment isn't too great. And to be honest, you don't need to play any airsoft before you go paintballing. In my opinion, paintball is waaaaay better than weaksauce airsoft.

15 Name: Seven : 2011-08-05 23:16 ID:2rkR1rvV [Del]

>>14
Agreed. I don't trust people enough to say they got hit either. Its better with paint so you can see the splatters.

@15

Aye, plus air soft shots I can't even feel since I played paintball so much. At least with paintball, you KNOW when you get hit.

I hate wipers so much. Which is why I pay attention to see if I hit them or not. If I see them react to my shot in such a way, I will call a ref to paint check him/her.

Shameful that pro players don't take it easy on the newer players. Nothing is more frustrating than feeling helpless against a pro player.

i went a few times, really wish i had the time and money to really get into it. last time i went i got an amazing bounce shot. was crouched behind a dorrito and poped up, shot 4 or 5 rounds off and ducked again. saw an enemy at the other end of the court duck, so i waited and watched his timing. i had planned to shoot him in the crotch cuz he was being an asshole all night. anyway saw him pop up so i dove to a barrel near by. and saw him facing sideways shooting so i stood up and unloaded aiming at his waist and he started moving so i shot ahead of him and it bounced off a tank and hit him in the chin under the mask. saw him in the restroom afterword he said it was in his mouth and nose.

36 Name: DAK075 : 2011-12-24 04:29 ID:zz2u8w+K [Del]

@35
Yeah, paintball is a pretty expensive sport to play. I'm sure a lot of us would play more if we had the money to do so.

And I hate the taste of paint. It sucks. But you never forget it.

Also, if I may ask, how was that guy being an a-hole?

37 Name: Kaosu !/cNG.9l1XI : 2011-12-28 03:44 ID:q0nKEdJE [Del]

>>35 yea I agree I had the roughest time getting money to play, but something I recommend, if you haven't tried it yet, is talk to the owners of your local fields. I did and ended up finding that at one field registered teams play at a large discounted practice price and that calling in before the weekend you could reserve a case of paint for cheaper then at field. And at another field I go to I found they had speedball practice prices, which was like $45 for the day (meaning entry, all day gas, and a case of practice DXS paint). So I say give the owners an email or call and ask about any discount promotions they run for speedball, helped me alot and now I can go more

Hey, i was thinking about getting back into paintball. And old spider is olddd... What type should i get? :/ did some looking and was thinkin of ether a Bt, or a T68. ofc, getting a box mag if i get the T68. whadda ya think?

39 Name: Kaosu !/cNG.9l1XI : 2012-01-28 23:05 ID:jh0vNMpg [Del]

>>38 well I bet that spyder would prob. still work great if you put some love into it, but if you're thinking about getting a new marker and I'm guessing you play woodsball/scenario I'd say get a Tippmann98, it's a bt but bt came out afterwards and tippmanns have a record of being pretty much indestructible so even if you stop playing for a while/leave it somewhere thats not good/put bad paint through it/etc. it'll still work great and it's not too expernsive and you can upgrade it as you like.

Also, I don't know if any of you are around Virginia USA but Pev's Paintball is holding a charity tournament trying to raise $12,000 dollars to buy a Diabetic Sensory Dog for a young boy diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. So if you're in the area please come join the event and help raise the money, this is actually a very life threatening diagnosis that will change this kids life forever and this dog will help him stay alive.

The spider is a choppin' machine, and an air hog.
tippmans are good, but i love the idea off a "Bottom hopper" [box mag, T68]. :3

or.. better yet, i think there's a Mag convert-kit for BT's.
Thanks for input, ima go look around the web sum'mur.

>>41 yea cause you'll treat your body better once you understand it but this little kid is not gonna know what the hell they're telling him.

Lol really? most spyders are decent, I mean I don't like em but they get the job done for most people. And what do you mean bottom hopper? you talking about tht weird system where you have a pod filled with paint under the barrel and it feeds in that way? those look so funny XD

Also another to look at is the company Azodin, they make some good markers. They look similar to spyders but thats only because the owner of the comp. used to be one of the heads of Spyder. They have the Kaos model that alot of people use for woodsball now, a pump version of the Kaos that I hear is really good I want to try it out soon, and the Blitz that can go between woodsball and speedball easy. And I believe all the markers are made to use both CO2 and HPA

i'll look into kaos some.

Ugh, I remember I went paintballing with my a large group of my friends a long time ago. It was really fun until I got hit and was out. I'm not a sore loser or anything, but we agreed that when we got hit, we'd stand up with our hands in the air and call that we were out. I did that, but when I turned around, I got shot four times on my ass and right leg.

Needless to say, I was pretty pissed. I have a loud, and I mean LOUD, voice that carries so there's no way that they could've missed what I had said. -__-;

It happens. Sometimes you get caught in the crossfire, so its best to run to the dead box so that you are less likely to get hit on the way out.

So during Easter, I went to my grandma's house to see if there were any of my dad and uncles old paintball guns. We only found one, which in the image, is a PMI 68 Magnum Pump Paintball Gun. It still works like a regular pump, and has no problems at all. On it, you see a "silencer" attachment to the barrel. It's actually a "thumper" barrel extension. Even though it does muffle the sound a bit, it increases velocity of the paintballs shot. Its barrel is made out of brass, the pump is custom.
