Weekly discussions (337)

1 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-06-20 22:19 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

Simply put, a topic on the left hand side will be randomly selected (minus the main or random board), and then anyone is free to talk about that topic.

Try to keep discussions current. But discussions can also be of things of the past.

For example, on Week 1, the topic news might be picked. Discussions would only be on current affairs or events around the world.

Keeping this example, week 2 might be animation, in which we will discuss new anime or animation styles and such.

Topics will begin and end each Wednesday.
See my comments for the topic.

The category for this week is...Music!!

3 Name: Chronos : 2017-06-21 04:42 ID:LVtXlmem [Del]

When I think of music there is currently only one thing that kind of dominates my mind:
You all heard of the terror attack at the concert of Ariana Grande in Manchester? I´m no fan of Ariana Grande, but it somehow was a shock, wasn´t it? Just the imagination of going to a concert to enjoy the music you like and leaving with a trauma because someone fires a bomb must be terrifying. Not to forget the singer herself must be really shocked after this concert and might remember it everytime she´ll give a concert in the future...

>>3 Yeah, that happened a few weeks ago now. The UK is strong, though. It'll take more than some terrorist pissants to shake them.

5 Name: Firion !HYDlod9R/I : 2017-06-24 07:08 ID:kiCNa44m [Del]

Music? my phone has 40 songs, 36 of them are japanese, the rest is local music in my country. Is it just me that had playlist like this?

6 Name: Chronos : 2017-06-24 21:22 ID:HNtRaNsu [Del]

My playlist is kind of the other way round. I live in Japan, but about 90% of the music I have on my phone is not japanese!
Almost all of my phone storage is full with music. I really have to delete something but I can´t divest myself from the music I love.

7 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-06-25 22:29 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

>>4 I disagree. While I don't live in UK, I feel that the UK is growing weaker throughout the years. This is probably due to the recent Brexit incident and other predicaments against them. But, I'm not up to date with British politics, and I'm not a very credible source; I'm sure the UK will have a way to assure safe passage of music and concerts country-wide.

>>5 I also have a playlist like that, except of the japanese songs, most of them are vocaloid songs :P

Mr/Mrs Vitaeu, will we have a new topic this week?

9 Name: Chronos : 2017-06-28 03:17 ID:n5OYMYYF [Del]

This weeks topic will be "nothingness". Don´t you sense it? The impenetrable silence? The emptiness of words? Nothingness is everywhere. We´re trappend. We´ll be devoured by the boredom while waiting for the next topic...
Ok, just kidding! I tend to get annoying when I´m bored.

By the way, I´m also waiting for the next topic~
Bring on something interesting Vitaeu! This topic needs to get more attention!!!

10 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-06-28 07:37 ID:mThgTvIO [Del]

Heyo! Hope everyone's doing well. I'm not going to have WiFi later today, so the topic for this week will be...

Technology!

>>8 Yes we will :)

>>9 :o I can relate.

Have a good day or night everyone!

I sucked at playing snake - always collided with my own tail. I liked playing Tetris instead.

I have an iPhone 6, sadly not with enough storage to make a backup. Need to delete something...

Someone remember the absolute legendary red ball from the original game of "Bounce" in Nokia phone? Once you cheat, the game's broken forever. I don't know why that happened

New topics?

20 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-05 18:10 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

Hello everyone! Sorry I'm not being very active recently, I had some important stuff to attend to. However, I should be able to join in some of these discussions more often later down the road.

Anyway, our new topic for this week will be...

Gaming!

I saw some people start to talk about some mobile games and I figured this would be a great transition to a new topic! Talk about games, on whatever platform you wish.

>>15 These are discussions, if needed, you can go out of the rules and talk about something that would be its own topic, in a different topic discussion. I'm a personal believer that you should just "go with the flow". If the topic transitions from Animation to Art, then instead of trying to change it, you can go with it. The initial topic should be what all replys are relatively based on.

21 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-05 18:15 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

I'll start off. Anyone here played Downwell?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/360740/Downwell/

I started playing a week ago and I got really into it. I'm not that good though so I usually don't make it past the catacombs. Nonetheless, I still find it a pretty cool indie game that was well-worth the money.

22 Name: Firion !HYDlod9R/I : 2017-07-06 02:08 ID:MtbwRKTd [Del]

My laptop broke and my father won't let me find someone to fix it. Now I only had my phone and my father's low RAM laptop, Plants VS Zombies GOTY is enough for me (and I find PvZ in android sucks at someways)

23 Name: Firion !HYDlod9R/I : 2017-07-06 18:51 ID:WDiLGrTr [Del]

Ooh and is someone still playing diamond rush from the nokia?

24 Name: Chronos : 2017-07-07 08:14 ID:1sEhj/JG [Del]

Someone seems to like old fashioned games - someone called Firion!
I´m still playing diamond rush, although not on Nokia... I lost my beloved Nokia about a year ago when it accidently fell into a river - don´t ask me how that happened!

25 Name: Firion !HYDlod9R/I : 2017-07-08 02:55 ID:zFqRsxHM [Del]

I never finished diamond rush tho. So, how about that old tower of block in the middle of flood game?

26 Name: Chronos : 2017-07-08 20:27 ID:Ieu9Kpfl [Del]

Never heard of it...
Anyone remembering the creepy (original) theme from Pokémon Lavender Town which has got changed because it has been said to lead to suicide?

27 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-08 23:55 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

oOo I know about that song alright. When I was younger, and sometimes even today, when I enter Lavender Town, that music always compensates for the creepiness of the area! Apparently there was something about the frequencies of the song that had led to suicide. I find it eerie though how a game's music can create such a powerful emotion in the player's heart or a detrimental effect on the player's health.

Anyway, speaking about pokemon, does anyone remember the porygon episode which caused a bunch of kids to get seizures? I never actually watched the original, only seen some short slowed down clips.

28 Name: Firion !HYDlod9R/I : 2017-07-09 22:38 ID:zFqRsxHM [Del]

Ooh I've heard of that! Reminds me of Spongebob's secret episode the "Red Mist"

29 Name: Firion !HYDlod9R/I : 2017-07-12 08:07 ID:zFqRsxHM [Del]

WE NEED! ANOTHER TOPICS! ITS WEDNESDAY ALREADY!

30 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-12 13:56 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

Heyo! Hope everyone's doing well. Nonetheless, the topic for this week will be...

Animation!

Talk about any animated cartoon, it can be of whatever kind. Anime, cartoons, shorts, heck even animated youtube videos, like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyObyQRsHe8.

Please have mercy on my body and soul Firion.

Happy discussing!

There's an incredible (and short) trailer for FLCL 2 & 3! 2018 is gonna fuckin' rock!

32 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-12 14:06 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

I started watching black bullet the other day, and now i'm getting really into it! I'm maybe halfway through the show, so I still don't know what happens at the end :P. Anyway, it's a pretty good watch, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for some action and such.

Also is anyone keeping up with the Summer 2017 anime seasons? If so, what are you watching?

I'm personally watching:
-18if
-Aho Girl
-Boku no Hero Academia S2
-Dive
-Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni
-Kakegurui
-Koi to Uso
-Re:Creators
-Tsurezure Children

They're all fine as of now, if anyone is keeping up with Summer 2017, please recommend me some more airing shows.

33 Name: Jomocho : 2017-07-12 14:36 ID:H4gkN/cx [Del]

Hey there :)

I watched Black Bullet last year, I liked it too :D Especially the art style :P
I'm not really watching recent anime actually, except for Boku no Hero academia s2

34 Name: Firion !HYDlod9R/I : 2017-07-12 21:26 ID:zFqRsxHM [Del]

Right now, I'm still only watch Re:Creators. Though I want to watch Aho Girl also cuz it seem good.

Anyone hyped for NGNL Zero?

35 Name: Chronos : 2017-07-12 22:59 ID:8yrm+rBS [Del]

Recently I don´t watch anything in particular - I´m still disappointed, because Season 2 of Shingeki no kyojin was too short. Now I´m only waiting for the film of Fate Stay Night Heaven´s Feel to get released...

>>34 Not totally hyped, but I´m going to watch it, and it starts in... 2 days, doesn´t it?!

36 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-13 16:04 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

>>35 I'm pretty hyped, the original NGNL was okish, but the trailer looks nice. Can't wait!!!

37 Name: Chronos : 2017-07-13 22:09 ID:3PPP1UAL [Del]

Is anyone still watching One Piece? I watched it since I was a child and really liked it. And yet I got bored after the Dressrosa Arc and quit watching.

38 Name: Kyrkovisian : 2017-07-14 17:33 ID:KnEgeAjB [Del]

I pretty much just read the manga for the most part now saves time, and just breeze through the episodes after a significant amount has released since I already know whats gonna happen

39 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-17 10:02 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

I haven't watched One Piece, but I have friends who have, and are up to date. I heard he watched every episode: he's pretty dedicated.

40 Name: Poppet : 2017-07-18 17:29 ID:QgGpMLUH [Del]

I really want to watch and like these super long running and popular animes (naruto, one piece) but I do not have time for 200 episodes or more. I watched soul eater (50 episodes) like a year agi, but I cant see myself doing that now?? Like what happend :( I can hardly even watch 12eps now because it feels like a waste of time unless I really like the show. When I come home from this vacation Im on rn Im gonna watch Kakegurui, I saw the first two episodes last week or so, and Im really liking it so far.

41 Name: Chronos : 2017-07-18 23:44 ID:rIIsb+Wb [Del]

>>40 I can totally relate to this. I want to continue watching one piece or naruto, but somehow I think it´s not worth the time, so I end up watching short animes instead.

42 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-19 17:23 ID:if5QXESN [Del]

It's that day of the week again! Lets change up the topic!

Since a lot of new movies are coming out, let's go with...

Films/Movies!!

Talk about movies; can be live-action or animated. You can talk about films coming out soon in the future, or great movies in the past, or even movies coming out today! Length of time isn't really an issue here, but the film shouldn't be 5 to 10 minutes long :). Happy discussing!!

43 Name: GattoIncolore : 2017-07-21 11:13 ID:fCWWTMYP [Del]

This isn't current, but what did people think about The Hobbit trilogy? Personally I adore both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, but most of my friends were seriously disappointed with them; my dad even refused to watch the 2nd and 3rd Hobbit movies because he hated the first so much. What do you guys think?

44 Name: Chronos : 2017-07-21 19:40 ID:rIIsb+Wb [Del]

>>43 Did you read the books?
I read the book first and compared to the book the film was quite... let´s say... it was different. The plot was changed and extended and there were persons who disliked that about "The Hobbit". Nevertheless I like both, book and film, I simply view it as two different ways of the same story.

The Lord of the Rings was awesome, both, book and film. I´m a huge fan of fantasy and the realisation of Middle-earth with all it´s creatures and different places in the film was great. Moreover it was one of a few films I´ve ever seen in which there was a continuous enhancement in content and tension throughout all of the three parts, which is rather rare.

45 Name: funnyman : 2017-07-22 00:31 ID:sCGijn4G [Del]

Haven´t read the books, but i didn´t like the movie. LOTR wasn´t that bad, but the Hobbit was a total flop. Have´t even watched the final movie, cause my friends said all it wouldn´t be worth watching.

46 Name: GattoIncolore : 2017-07-22 10:23 ID:0JuOdyMn [Del]

The Hobbit is probably one of my most read books, it never seems to grow old on me. The movie is definitely different as it tried to include stories from the appendices, such as the focus on the necromancer, so really the film is a mix of many stories which leaves it slightly messy... I understand the need for more action scenes which meant the inclusion of 'the hunt' and the stone giants which never happened, but I wish the love triangle didn't exist as it tore Kili away from the company and Thorin at the end.

Lord of the Rings will always be 1000 times superior though, they set the bar high for themselves.

47 Name: Kyouka : 2017-07-23 08:25 ID:P6mBE2aH [Del]

I haven´t watched The Hobbit movie. I only read the book and it was kind of boring compared to The Lord of the Rings, which is my favorite book. The movie of Lord of the Rings was really incredible. I am a huge fan of Christopher Lee and he was simply amazing as Saruman.
Would it be recommendable to watch the Hobbit too?

48 Name: Enigami !c6PjAO5Kw. : 2017-07-23 08:29 ID:c3/9yR0O [Del]

>>47 Nope. Well, maybe the first one, but at that point, you've already started the trilogy, so...
Yeah, just skip it.

49 Name: Kyouka : 2017-07-23 19:38 ID:sbwfT3Ie [Del]

>>48 As a fan of Lord of the Rings I felt like I must watch it lol

50 Name: NinjaTantei : 2017-07-23 19:47 ID:9dk6NhkY [Del]

>>49 The Hobbit was ok. I did not like it as much as LotR but it was good. I didn't like the way they used stories from the appendices because it made it seem like they were trying too hard to stretch out the movie. I would have been happy with just one or two Hobbit movies that stuck with the book's storyline.

51 Name: Chronos !8NBuQ4l6uQ : 2017-07-24 00:13 ID:r3mdQj/c [Del]

It is out of topic but has anybody watched the new Pirates of the Carribean? I think the storyline was disappointing and the characters less funny. I really liked Barbossa but he died.
What do you think about it?

55 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-26 17:11 ID:AW9WYtaR [Del]

I wonder if anyone still reads this thread oOo

Anyway, the next topic will be...

Food!

You can talk about your favorite food, or your least favorite. Or maybe what you recently ate.

My favorite food are anything with noodles, but I really dislike mushrooms. How about you guys?

56 Name: Chronos !8NBuQ4l6uQ : 2017-07-26 20:21 ID:0PEMBjOL [Del]

Food... I don´t have a favourite food in particular, though I realised a preference of italian food, especially for pizza.
I´m living in a dorm, cooking by myself and I´m kind of proud that even the girls like my food - yeah, seems that I´m talented lol
I don´t like sweets very much, half of them are tooo sweet and I feel like eating sheer sugar, nevertheless I like sweet fruits like mango or pineapples xd

57 Name: NinjaTantei !LxZQMPQHL. : 2017-07-26 21:35 ID:9dk6NhkY [Del]

Food! I love food! lol

Seriously though, I can't decide on my favorite food. I really like Thai spicy Pad Thai from my town's Thai place. BUT I also really love spicy bulgogi with rice and my grandmother's lumpia and stir fry.
Honestly, I love anything spicy. The spicier the better.

I hate coconuts. I can't stand the taste or the texture. I also have a strong dislike for strawberries and kiwis. I have no problem with other fruits, pineapples would be my favorite kind.

58 Name: Chronos !8NBuQ4l6uQ : 2017-07-26 22:05 ID:0PEMBjOL [Del]

>>57 Yay! Pineapples FTW! lol

59 Name: Kyouka : 2017-07-27 09:13 ID:GSYgOue0 [Del]

I like Asian food, most of all Korean food, because it's spicy.
And I like sweet things, like cookies and muffins.
I hate tomatoes and everything that's bitter or sour.
Oh, and I would join the "pineapple-crew". I love pineapples :)

>>59 Yay! Pineapples! lol
Korean food is great! I wanna go back to Korea to eat more of their food. There aren't many Korean restaurants in my area. The ones we do have are either really expensive or not good. :(

61 Name: Boopwrang : 2017-07-27 13:05 ID:73LM7Euj [Del]

You can try Korean BBQ restaurants

62 Name: NinjaTantei !LxZQMPQHL. : 2017-07-27 18:30 ID:9dk6NhkY [Del]

63 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-07-27 21:11 ID:AW9WYtaR [Del]

>>62 That sounds like it sucks :(, there are like 5 Hmarts in Texas too. I also like Korean food and actually Asian food in general. I have family in Singapore, and food there is very diverse, but I don't live there, so that sucks. But you could try to order small Korean snacks online.

64 Name: NinjaTantei !LxZQMPQHL. : 2017-07-27 22:23 ID:9dk6NhkY [Del]

>>63 I can buy Korean snacks from the oriental market and the HEB plus near Fort Hood. I can also get some from the Five Below in Harker Heights. I just don't get to go to that side of Bell County unless I have to go to school. When I am in that area, I buy a bunch of stuff. lol.

Heyo! It's Wednesday again, so it's time for a topic change!
Anyway, the topic will be...

Travel!

Talk about places you've traveled, and maybe good experiences from those places! I know it's not a board on the side of the dollars site, but I decided to spice it up a little ;)

Anyway, I've been to Singapore, Bangladesh, Cambodia, France, Monaco, and France \'o'/.

I've never left America, unfortunately. I desperately wanna travel to my ancestral homelands one day (apparently, I'm Irish, English, Dutch, French and German, so that's a lot of ground to cover...)
I kinda wanna go to Canada soon-ish.

Vitaeu would look like A rich person, seeing how much country has S/he visited

Ever heard of Borobudur? or Bali?

>>69 Wow, you´re pretty multicultural Enigami. I hope you´ll be able to visit all the countries you have roots in.

>>70 I guess that´s where you´re from, Firion?
Bali is beautiful. I´ve been there last year, because I made a study on Balinese gamelan and got interested in the country itself.

Places to where I´ve been:
Austria, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, UK (of course), New Zealand, Bali, Vietnam - currently I´m living in Japan.

Places I want to go to:
Atlantis!
Just kidding.
I want to go to Northern Europe, Canada, Russia, Turkey, India and China. Oh and I want to go to... somewhere in the US where the Niagara Falls are - I forgot where they are lol

Borobudur is a temple in Indonesia. It's not in Bali though.
A boring temple, really. But apparently it has a rich history and is one of the revered historical landmark.
The vendors are all tourist traps.

I want to visit the pyramids in Egypt. Perhaps I´ll meet the mummy there :o

76 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-08-03 12:32 ID:AW9WYtaR [Del]

>>75 oOo going to Egypt sounds nice, wouldn't it be cool to climb up the Great Pyramid of Giza (the biggest one I think) and just look outward? That would be a majestic view.

Also I realized I said France twice xD

We're still at the topic for travel right?

I really like travelling every year I go somewhere far. I lived in Canada but I haven't travelled all around the country.

My job before requires travelling too. So for 2 months last year, I travelled around the province, going to one place after another though I quit that job because I have school. This year, I went to Toronto which is an awesome city. Though it was really a short stay, I would love to go back there and go sightseeing.

The places in US I went to are Washington and Oregon. In oregon we had like a band trip, so we went to different schools and performed to the kids. I was kinda fun.

Next year, I'm going to korea and Japan. My korean friend will be our guide, and I know japanese so no worries.

Also, the topic for next week will be...

Space!!

So essentially, until Wednesday next week rolls around, let's talk about Mysterious Places. And then when next week Wednesday arrives, switch over to Space topics. Things like, what's your favorite planet, or do you think Pluto is a planet, and other various questions!!

Anyway, I'm so sorry this is late, and have a good day!!

So.... bermuda's triangle is pretty interesting place huh

94 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-08-13 12:16 ID:AW9WYtaR [Del]

I find it interesting that we know more about space than the lowest point of the ocean. In my opinion this place is vastly interesting. Generally it should be a hell hole for all living things: no sun, limited oxygen, and loads of pressure. I find it ironic that life still exists there. And that there are still organisms like the blobfish (om nom) that we haven't found yet. It's certainly a scary place and I believe we've only scratched the surface of it.

By the way I'm not going to be here from today until Saturday so continue the conversations without me. Also feel free to switch to the topic space on Wednesday without me.

Once I visited the ruins of St. Andrews cathedral with some friends. It was a cold, windy day and there was no one except for us. We wanted to take a group pic with my friend´s phone, but somehow the pics got worse. Suddenly we saw an old man behind us through the camera. We turned around, wanted to ask him if he could take a pic of us, however, there was no one in sight. We got scared and searched for him in the entire ruins, though couldn´t find the man anywhere. It seemed as if he vanished, if he had really been there. After a certain time my friends began stating that he had been a ghost. If not he must have known a secret passage to leave the ruins unnoticed or he was in possession of a magic hood.

Hello everyone!!! It's Wednesday, so let's switch the topics up a bit. The topic this week will be...

Nature!

Talk about nature related things like camping, or hikes, or trees. You could also talk about experiences with nature you've had!

One time when camping, I got a mosquito bite on my eyelid while I was sleeping. For the rest of the day, my left eye was half open for the rest of the day.

106 Name: Firion !ZeMESPtKtE : 2017-08-23 19:40 ID:eZgFUA04 [Del]

so you know how hard it is when the mosquito bite your feet in some places, you can't scratch it. if you scratch it, it feels tickle but if you don't it feels really uncomfortable

nature? bet you never saw something like "Bliss" with your own eyes & only see it in computer

>>105 Wb. Sorry, we completely forgot to talk about space lol

Nature... When I was younger I liked being in the nature -
far away from civilisation, on my own, able to arrange and organise my thoughts.
Still the nature helps me to get inspiration for music or stories. Since I´m living in a big town right now, I often go to a nearby park or to a shrine to relax.

Once, when camping, it started to hail and the hailstones were that big, that they tore up the rain fly lol

In my town, there's a nice reservation and the town has made hiking trails out of it. The reservation also lies near a college. There's one trail that leads you up to a mountain and to a cliff area which enables you to see a view of the below trails and nearly the entire college campus. It also has a good view of the town as well.

Let´s combine space and nature: Are there natural disasters on other planets? What do you think? lol

>>114 On the one hand I completely agree with you in light of the fact that humans are able to choose their own way (at least to a certain degree) and to give a meaning to their lives.
[Let´s assume here, that human life is not predetermined or lead by any godlike being, but every human being is able to decide with an own free will].
On the other hand, whatever humans do, whatever they create - in the end we all are going to die.
What are we able to take with us after death? Money? Fame? The answer is: Nothing.
Whatever we did in our lifetime burns to ashes after we died. Of course there might be someone left behind, someone remembering our names, our deeds - nevertheless, wait for two or three generations and all you are is a illegible name engraved on a wheathered stone.
And then I´ll ask you about the significance of human beings again.

Nature. Hiking is very popular in Germany. I went hiking with my parents almost every weekend when I was younger. I totally love the nature, especially mountains and forests. And I like the sounds of the nature, like the birds and the sound of water and so on. But I'm afraid of nature disasters.

I guess I'll join in.

I made a mosquito's but burst/crack by flexing the muscles where it was biting.

On another occasion lightning struck quite close to me. I was blinded, felt the earth shake, and the thunder followed milliseconds later. Yet the shaking could've been from the thunder. At least I was in a dense forest and not out in the open.

Did you sense any heat?

Talking of mosquitos: I always wonder why some people get more often bitten by mosquitoes than others.

122 Name: Sid : 2017-08-29 08:43 ID:oY1m5vPY [Del]

>>121 I don't recall heat, since it was raining. I was setting up a tent during dusk, so I didn't see the direction it came from either.

How could I not try to make a mosquito explode after someone said that flexing the muscles it's biting at will do it. But that was by far the biggest and itchiest mosquito bite I had.

I think it depends on the c02 emitted and the chemicals someone has, or how they smell to the mosquito. I never got bit when I ate kimchi daily, which has garlic, ginger, and radishes in it. I'm guessing one of those things made me smell unappetizing.

>>122 I see.

Right. It was absolutely necessary to prove scientific theories or something.

That could be true. I´m eating lots of spicy stuff and I got rarely bitten. My girlfriend ate lots of sweets and somehow the mosquitos devoured her almost lol

125 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-08-30 11:06 ID:AW9WYtaR [Del]

Hello everyone! Hope everyone's doing good today. The topic for this week will be...

School!

For a lot of people, September marks the start of the beginning of a new school year (arrgh) so I figured that we could share some school stories! i'll start off...

In 9th grade, I took honors english. I wasn't very good at english but I happened to make it in anyway. The teacher was a super strict feminist literally named Mrs. Drosdick, and she lived up to her name. One time, during a vocab test, there was a word that I didn't know the definition for and that I knew wasn't one of the vocab words we had to study. I asked her what it meant and she straight up started shaking my desk and moving my papers and pencils, and then she just walks away! I ended the class with an 84, which was nice, but the teacher was still pretty annoying.

Also, I hope people living in or around the Texas area are all safe during Hurricane Harvey.

>>125 :o

I had a weird geography teacher once. She was always shouting and even throwing her pencil at loud pupil. One day she told us to be quiet for one entire minute. It grew silent, when suddenly, out of nowhere, my pencil-case fell from the desk and all my pencils spread all over the ground.
My teacher got that furious because of the noise, that she threw me out of the formroom and I had to wait in front of the door for about an hour until lesson finished. When I returned to the formroom, the first thing I got was some extra work: I had to learn the names of all the rivers in the UK and where they are on the map.
This teacher is the reason I dislike geography lol

127 Name: Sid : 2017-08-31 00:10 ID:oY1m5vPY [Del]

>>126 I have never once taken a geography course in my life lol.

One teacher I had confiscated a punisher comic and gave it to the dean when I was in 6th grade. The dean just said to not bring it to her class anymore lol. It seemed like the teacher hated everyone who didn't kiss ass.

In Year 10 (9th Grade) I had a teacher called Mr. Deighton. This teacher was the best teacher I've ever had. Everyone in the class respected him and would happily sit in silence without disrupting (difficult for year 10s/9th graders). The thing about this teacher, though, is that he was deathly afraid of blood and one day he was walking around the classroom pretending to have rubber bands for hands (don't ask) when he decided he would try and pick up a student's pen (while the student was using it) by looping the rubber bands through the bit where the pen clips onto a pocket or something. The student kept holding the pen but just as the pen was at maximum tautness he let go and the pen stabbed the teacher in the hand and it started bleeding. The teacher (being afraid of blood and all) sat at his desk and started fanning himself and started asking around for a plaster.
One student handing him a plaster which said "Don't cry" on it and decided he would sterilise the wound before putting the plaster on it. He did this via anti-bacterial hand sanitiser. If anyone's ever put anti-bacterial hand sanitiser on an open wound then they know how much that hurts. He sat there practically screaming in his chair but still asked the class "It means it's working if it hurt, right?" with which the class responded "No."
The class was in complete hysterics and we didn't do much work for the rest of the lesson.

School! We just started this week. I have a lot of stories about the instructors at my college and university.

While I was attending junior college, I had a public speaking teacher that was always either hungover or drinking while in class. Sometimes I would get to school and find out that class was canceled. Other times we would have class but it would be cut short because he wasn't "feeling well." He almost always had a flask or giant beer mug that he claimed had water in it. He was cool though. I managed to pass the class with an A because I nailed by final speech.

The University that I currently attend, was in the middle of looking for a Dean of the College of Education when I first started. Because they did not have a Dean, that department turned into a huge mess. One of my instructors taught math but just because you can pass a math test does not mean you can teach it. She had degrees in Technology and Curriculum Instruction. Neither one had anything to do with math. Her technology degree was a joke because she couldn't work the computer or the document camera half the time. All of her classes were a joke as well because we had to basically teach ourselves the math just so we could pass the class. I was not paying a ton of money just to teach myself math. Finally, around the fourth semester of dealing with this teacher's crap, we found out how to file a complaint against an instructor. One of my classmates had asked around the campus because it's not advertised. After she found the right guy to talk to, a bunch of us got together and talked to him. He was surprised that so many of us had complaints. By this time, we finally had a Dean of the College of Education, so we were going to be taken straight to the Dean with our complaints. Unfortunately, someone from the College of Education intervened and told the Dean that they would handle it in house before going to him because they needed to follow the proper channels. So we scheduled a meeting with the head of the department and brought in all of our documentation with us. The day of the meeting, the teacher we had our complaints about was supposed to be out of the office, but one of my classmates found out she was in her office with the door open. Her office was on the way to the head of the department's office so she could see everyone who walked by. We were supposed to be anonymous but we weren't going to be if she knew who was meeting with the Head. Another classmate of ours decided that he needed to speak with the instructor because she was also the advisor for the math majors. He knew about our meeting with the head of the department and distracted the instructor and was able to get her to close her door because of confidentiality of student grades.

Since this post is already super long, I'll cut the story short. Basically, the head of the department listened to our complaints but did nothing about the instructor. Our instructor somehow found out who met with the head (we believe the head of the department sold us out) and punished us by giving us extra busy work for the class. After the semester was over, our classmate who found out how to file complaints about instructors emailed everyone and told us that the Dean found out that the Head of the department did nothing and told him nothing about the situation. He was pissed and had everyone who had a complaint email him and he took care of everything personally. Now we have a complaint form on the school's website for the College of Education and both the instructor and the head of the department are in hot water.

In other news, I started student teaching. It's been going great. I taught a few lessons and all of the students treat me with respect. I am super sore all of the time now and I am so exhausted that I actually sleep through the night.

I've always wanted to go there. My school wasn't very strict so my friends and I skipped some classes. One day we decided to go to the floor in construction, obviously is was prohibited to stay there . We've had to go up two stairs and cross to the another part of the school and the director saw us. It was so funny because we started to run and to hide and some teachers was trying to catch us. Finally three of my friends was punished with an admonishment 😂😂

It's only one day left for our school topic, so let's use this day somehow!
What is/was you favourite and less favourite subject?
My favourite subjects were literature, history and music.
I detested geography and French lol

134 Name: Sid : 2017-09-04 21:02 ID:oY1m5vPY [Del]

My favorite subjects pertain to physics, yet most of my teachers were not the best in that field. I am taking an electrical engineering course for electromagnetics this semester, and a physics optics and waves course.

I can't wait to get into quantum mechanics and laser design, since I want to get into quantum computing.

My least favorite subjects would be history and English. At least my History teacher made it fun, but all the rhetoric in English drove me crazy lol.

My favorite school topics would be the ones where your teacher will ignore you and just let you do whatever.
So, English, biology, and religion. Also something called guidance counseling (yeah, it's a subject, 40 mins a week).

Best one would be English, though. Reason being the teacher bragged about getting a 7.0 in IELTS (lol). No wonder he taught incorrect grammars all the time.

Should have been "least favourite". Autocorrect hates me lol

Also need to add religion to my favourite subjects list - loved discussing with my teacher and how he tried to turn me into a Christian and failed so hard every time. I'm unbaptised by the way.

>>134 I always liked rhetoric lol

>>136 Had been something like the teacher's pet.
My dad's a teacher who told me all the stuff in the forefront.
Everyone hated me for being that smart and I had no friends.
Then I started using my knowledge against the teachers becoming a little rebel and suddenly I became kind of "popular" and even got elected as class representative lol

Huh, I guess I do have something to contribute here.
So when I was in school, I was kinda just a nerdy hipster wallflower. I largely hung out with nerds, hipsters, and burnouts. I didn't really study too hard, and managed to graduate cum laude from high school. I was more active in college, and tried a little harder academically, but still hung around the same kinds of people.

My dream was - as stupid as it might sound - to write a book better than The Lord of the Rings. Sadly, A Song of Ice and Fire is already kind of better than LOTR, means I need to write a book better than A Song of Ice and Fire, which is kind of impossible :/
However. I'm trying my best lol

>>143 I once thought about writing, I had some crazy dreams that seemed interesting lol.

I guess my main hobby now is to find ways to develop a quantum processor. In my free time I self teach myself math and some physics leading to develop such a chip. I'm on tensors and still need to learn complex variables. Then back to the Feynman lectures.

I read books here and there too, started reading the Sherlock stories, by Doyle, recently too.

I used to skateboard all the time, since it was my escape. I can relate a lot to the kick push2 song by Lupe Fiasco.

>>145 i vaguely remember some off the top 0f my head, I always try to write the dream down when I wake up. One I had was a zombie dream with me helping others lol. Another was when I somehow time traveled and was stuck in the future, I think, but I couldn't give myself away. Another was also in the future when I had a jetboard/hoverboard and I was developing something that could read dreams. I think I got to the point where it could somewhat project the dreams into reality somehow?

I was into lucid dreaming for a bit but I lost interest and it's hard for me to do now. But it's trippy when you are conscious in your dream and can control a lot of it.

Slightly off topic though lol. I guess it was kind of a hobby of mine to catalog my dreams and to lucid dream lol.

Interested in lucid dream, don't have time to do it.

Did anyone ever dreamt about something that doesn't really matter in your life but then after a long time, you see something irl that once you were seeing in a dream long before. Cuz I do, & I never dreamt about something that important, must be just some normal things you will forget as soon as you recall it.

It was my hobby to try and learn stuff about dreams and religions. I still think there's more to dreams than people know, but I lost a lot of interest in it.

Oh I also look up tech advancements and the specs on new hardware as a hobby. Always researching cpu and gpu stuff in my free time made me want to design cpu's or gpu's. So that hobby formed into quantum computing after I took a college chemistry course.

Animation!

Talk about anime, cartoons, and such. I picked this topic since the summer 2017 anime season is ending.
Anyone see anything good that season? I thought tsuredure children and classroom of the elite were pretty good, but everyone has their own taste. Anyway it's late in my area so I'm going to sleep. Good night, or good morning where ever you are.

The only new anime I watched this year was Shingeki no kyojin, though I thought that Season 2 was too short, which was kind of disappointing.
Anyways, I'm waiting for 14th October for Fate/stay night - Heaven's Feel (I) to be aired.
...kinda feel like I've said that already somewhere...

Speaking of Durarara: Who is your favourite character?

>>182
Dear Vitaeu,
in case of lack of ideas for the next topic, read this list and get some inspiration:

- Dreams (became kind of a "subsurface" topic when we talked about hobbies and got pretty much attention)
- Funniest/worst/most awkward etc. happening
- Your ideology/worldview
- Future dreams/hopes/plans
- Belief
- Armageddon (just kidding!)
- Miraculous/supernatural happenings
- How do you think will the world change in XXX years?
- How would you change the world if you could?
- Or some simple "What would you do if..." questions.
- etc...

219 Name: Firion !ZeMESPtKtE : 2017-10-04 23:06 ID:KT40rYFm [Del]

I see myself as a lonely person, phsychology study said that "people who always smiling whenever you see it could be lonely deep inside". But I'm cool with everyone, I see myself as somekind of gas station. People stayed with me for some time and then I'll be always left alone, not a pretty good life huh? I haven't found a lot of friend who keep staying with me. If you want the exact number, around 10 people. But hey, live to the fullest. A wisdom word from The Cult Leader

Actually I'm not sure how to see myself - I'm switching the roles rather randomly.
On the one hand I like socialising, meeting friends in crowded places, telling jokes and helping others with their problems. I'm friendly and joking around.
On the other hand I hate talking to people about random insignificant bullshit and am not really able to do small talk. I'm scaring everyone away with my radical worldview, slaying others' dreams even before they were born.

To be honest, I was a kinda introverted kid (the creative type), very smart, still killing everyone with my unnecessary knowledge. I was said to be autistic and unable to interact with classmates properly, therefore rather isolated.
I didn't really understand others' feelings and didn't realise when I said something that upsets them.
[By the way this was the only reason why I became an internet troll. I wrote a comment which unintentionally provoked some people. Suddenly someone started calling me a "troll". I had no idea back then what that word actually meant and wrote something like "I'd prefer to be a dragon. Trolls are ugly." Yeah, that was stupid lol]
Back to the topic: Everything changed when I got interested in psychology and learned that one is able to change the way others see them by changing their own behaviour. I started acting differently (less intelligent and rather funny) and suddenly I became an extrovert, respected and kinda favoured. I took responsibility for things I had no interest in before and even became class representative.

Still I'm unsure whether the person I am right now is the actual me or just a persona I took to become a considered part of the society... :/

>>226 Isn't that something we all do? We put on a mask to be accepted by society but sometimes we wear that mask for so long that the lines between who we are and who we pretend to be, blur until we are unable to recognize ourselves.

Honestly, I've been there. I couldn't tell if I was really me or the mask. It's a continuous process, I make sure to take time to do things I like to do. I'm a very introverted person, I would rather spend time alone than with a group of people. I still hang out with my friends but they all understand that I need time away from everyone or I just need space to recharge.

I see myself as a person that is always growing and changing to become a better version of the real me, not the mask me. I see myself in a better and much healthier mental state than I used to be. I see myself as a work in progress and I don't hate myself anymore.

>>227 You just killed my fake identity crisis with words like taken from an epilogue of some sort of drama, you know? lol

However.
Sure, everyone wears a so called mask.
I would even state that you are never a "real" you, since you are shaped by foreign influences from the moment you were born and can't actually develop an unrestricted personality.
Everything you think, feel, every action is based on something which happened in your past, and every change you make will only be influenced by a present-day happening.
Even if you think you develop and change on your own to become a better version of your "real" self, you can't really become more or less "real", probably not even better or worse than before.
Still, I'd agree that life is like a progress with several changes until you finally reach the end.
Oh, and one should never hate oneself! That's the worst thing one can do ^^

Since we're talking about how we see ourselves. It's also interesting when you compare your own impression with the views of others. Sometimes other people see you quite differently.

Eh, why not.

I see myself as someone who is smarter than most people around them, with insights that would be wasted on those that cannot begin to comprehend a different view than their own. Someone who is also strong enough physically to protect myself, despite how scrawny I may appear. If I wanted I could make those around me feel inferior in any number of ways without saying anything untrue. Though I also see myself as someone still recovering from my past, to where I am too weak to do anything. Too weak to defend myself, and too weak to prove my abilities to others who most likely don't care.

In short, I see myself as a self-destructive contradiction with a touch of arrogance.

239 Name: Chronos !OLodFucK0U : 2017-10-12 00:00 ID:FPF/X+c5 [Del]

I'm listening to almost every kind of music, most of all I prefer metal, dubsteb and classical music though.
As long as music is diversified, rich in ideas, rich in imagery and full of true emotions, it's good music in my opinion ^^
I like different genres mixed up - like transcore, symphonic metal, etc.
I'm playing the piano, the cello and electric bass.

I used to play the clarinet lol.

I listen to almost everything, but mainly country, oldies, punk rock, and death metal.

When i say punk rock i mean true punk rock, like the Casualties and not fall out boy lol. Some punk rock I can't stand, since every band member plays a different song at the same time lol.

I probably listen to pop music the least, it infected all genres lol. Like how the pop country is country rap, and an old joke called mixing them is called crap. Bass beats don't go well with twang lol, but the kids nowadays think it does. Same with how kids think dial up noises mixed into songs make it sound good. Along with rap, since it used to be about life stories.

I listen to K-Pop and J-Pop and Anime music. I also like rock and pop music, but I don't like rap, metal core and electr0 music.
I play the recorder, a little bit the piano and the guitar, but I can't read the notation so I do everything by ear.

I listen to progressive rock, alternative rock, indie rock, indie pop, house, chill hop, chillwave, vaporwave, math rock, surf rock, noise rock, chiptune, very limited rap and dubstep (like a handful of tracks), and post rock.
I play drums pretty well, and sorta play guitar and piano.

244 Name: NinjaTantei !LxZQMPQHL. : 2017-10-13 19:03 ID:9dk6NhkY [Del]

I'll listen to a variety of music but it all depends on my mood or what I am doing. Classical music, movie, TV, video game soundtracks, and instrumental music are what I listen to while doing my homework. While I am driving in the morning, I listen to Klove or another family radio station because I usually have a more positive attitude going into school or work. While I am driving in the afternoon, I listen to either rock or pop depending on the kind of day I had. Most of the time it is something I know well and can sing to. If I am driving at night, I usually listen to Disney music so I can sing to keep myself awake or some kind of rock music that is loud. I don't like rap and country music is ok but I don't listen to it much. I really like going to my old junior college because they host the local Symphony Orchestra and I enjoy the whole experience of seeing a symphony live.

I can play a little bit of piano. I haven't played in a while but if I sat down and studied the sheet music, then I can easily pick it up again. I was never much for playing an instrument though. I like running the soundboard more than anything.

I have a sad/epic/funny Halloween story.

When I lived overseas, I lived on a compound (kind of like a neighbourhood, but encased in walls. Kind of like a small town, surrounded by walls) and everyone had a policy. If you were giving out treats to kids, you would leave your front light on. If not, you would turn it off.

Anyway, when people first started trick or treating, I dressed up as a mummy, wrapping myself in bandages and going around the entire compound with a bag. When I got back to my house, I stripped off the bandages and put on a cloak, hat and mask, and went out for a second round with a different bag. When I finished that round, I went out a third time just wearing casual clothes, with the second bag again (I had put all the sweets into the first bag). By the time I had finished all three rounds, I had about, 7 kg of sweets to eat. No joke. I was hyper for the next two months.

The interesting part is that the RTT turned from a thread where people are simply expressing their random thoughts, into a thread where people started to discuss their views on random things and finally into a small "community" much similar to a chat, where people talk about their everyday life.
That's an interesting development and probably shows that people always find a way to socialise or to interact somehow.

Ayo, I'm back! Let's start off strong with a little debate...

Should Net Neutrality be repealed?

Net neutrality is a law that says that internet providers must treat all data equal: to not run a specific website slower or faster in comparison with others. I'm sure a number of you will reply with "No", so you can spice it up with your explanation.

Personally, I am highly against the idea of the removal of net neutrality mainly because it decreases diversity and increases costs for regular people and small businesses. Basically, screw Ajit Pai.

>>274 Viteau! Welcome back! It didn't work without you!!!

What exactly is net neutrality? I have heard about it, but it is something that goes on in the USA, right? It is that some sites aren't able to take money from us and every site will run on the same speed? I don't really understand it. But I hate that videos in youtube are all cencored by the gema!

277 Name: SuckMyDick !aaWI/nsBfU : 2017-11-25 05:41 ID:52McowpJ [Del]

yea dont wanna pay for my porn, bitchez. against removal of NN fo sure.

278 Name: Vitaeu : 2017-11-25 07:28 ID:AW9WYtaR [Del]

>>276 Net neutrality is a law in which internet service providers (ISPs, like Comcast or Verizon) have to maintain the same speed for all websites or services online. Basically meaning that ISPs can't prefer one website/service over another. The removal of net neutrality leads to ISPs monetizing internet speeds for specific websites and other online stuff. For example, without net neutrality, an ISP can slow down Netflix's connection while speeding up Hulu's connection, which would affect the customer as well. The only way, most likely, to remove this "speed bump" would be to pay the ISP money, which would directly translate to the customer.

Anyway, I don't think this is a problem in Germany, but in the US, the FCC (people who control online things) are repealing net neutrality Dec 14.

Hopefully that helped!

279 Name: Chronos !OLodFucK0U : 2017-11-25 18:43 ID:S9D05yKp [Del]

>>278 It's no problem in Germany yet.
Still, what begins in the US might sooner or later expand and even affect Europe. The US has a leading position worldwide and serves as a model for many things. What works in the US is often imitated by other countries, therefore I'd state, that this isn't only a problem affecting the US, but might as well affect the whole world shortly.

I'm fiercely against the removal of net neutrality in the US as well as everywhere else.

280 Name: Sid!MYwXno9Hgc : 2017-11-26 11:53 ID:oY1m5vPY [Del]

In a way it makes sense, but I don't fully get why the government wants it. I've been to server rooms before and the amount of time and money needed for the bigger, or more used, sites is a lot more. The ISP's probably are losing money due to netflix and whatnot, due to the costs to maintain the servers for them. People have always paid a premium for fast internet, I pay about $100 a month for about 100 Mb/s. most companies with high bandwidth use fiber optic, which is even more expensive. Maybe the idea is if the businesses shovel out more money the resident users won't, only for the ISP though?

I do agree with it in a way, since people who use more of the product should be charged more. But that is in hopes that people who don't use the internet/bandwidth as much shouldn't be charged as much for it.

One can say the same about utilities in a way, if one uses more electricity they should pay more.

281 Name: NinjaTantei !LxZQMPQHL. : 2017-11-26 22:11 ID:9dk6NhkY [Del]

I am strongly against the removal of net neutrality. There should be no reason for Internet providers like Verizon to charge extra to access websites that are not owned by the company. I also do not want to be charged extra for Netflix or Amazon. They could bundle websites like they do with TV channels. Why pay for websites that you don't use? It was one of the main reason why we got rid of cable because we didn't use or watch a majority of the channels. People would also no longer be able to set up their own website because they would need money to pay the ISPs. Also, if you live in America, you can say goodbye to the Dollars because this site could be placed in the slow lane of the Internet. With the repeal of Net Neutrality, the ISPs will be able to control everything we do on the Internet and why would they stop with the US? There's a whole world out there.

282 Name: G.P. !K6N517zljo : 2017-11-27 00:50 ID:k5LDxqgS [Del]

>>278 Thank you for the exlanation. Now I understand it. It is really not a topic in the German news. But now that I know what it is, I am against it. I don't know why they should take away the net neutrality even.

>>279 & >>281 You are both right. Other countries often do what works good in the USA. I am afraid that it will really spread over the whole globe soon.

283 Name: Sid!MYwXno9Hgc : 2017-11-27 18:44 ID:oY1m5vPY [Del]

It most likely stems from the utility concept, if you use more you pay more. If you use more water and electricity than your neighbor you should pay more. Maybe the government wants to regulate it like a utility as well, so there is no collusion or monopolies?

Using a water analogy, Netflix would be one that uses 1000+ gallons of water a day, while I would only use maybe 60 gallons. The water is limited, so time and money are put into making sure water never runs out. Along with there is only one pipe going into town and Netflix and I share that pipe. The pipe is only so big, so as Netflix uses more water the pipe needs to get bigger. Why should I pay the people stocking the water and building the pipes with same rate Netflix has to pay?

Running servers isn't cheap. The electricity consumption, security, hardware, employees, etc. all cost money. Along with maintaining the lines.

I would totally agree with it if it lowered how much I pay my ISP. Even if it raised the price for Netflix I wouldn't pay as much if they did it right.

Of course it helps reduce collusion and whatnot by having it in place. It would somewhat be monopolizing the internet if a ISP preferred a website to another when they are using the same amount of resources.

It's Thursday now, but whatevs. The new topic will be the weather.

In the States, after a long winter, summer is finally here. In Oklahoma where I live we never actually got a real winter though it just stayed cold for a very long time. We only had one snowfall and a couple days throughout the season of freezing rain. Now though it is very hot. It's almost June now and our temps are already in the 90s, but luckily it's been raining frequently enough. Right now it's thunder storming which is nice because I love listening to rain and thunder.

I've been stupidly jamming to the Julia and the Phantoms album. I don't even like pop music.

So yesterday I was working in the store and the piano rendition of O, Christmas Tree/
O, Tannenbaum from Charlie Brown Christmas was playing which I really enjoyed. Tbh I'm not much a fan of christmas songs, but that tune is so soothing it's hard to not enjoy.

>>296 I really dread Carrol music. It's not that I hate Christmas or the music being bad (although I do have negative feelings about the Christmas season in general) it's just the same 15 songs on constant repeat. It gets extremely tiring the more and more years go by. They never really play anything... new... And if it is "new" then it's remakes of these songs by different artists. I wish the US spiced up Christmas more than music, lights, and the expectations of gifts. I'd much rather hole myself up for the next two months and get in Commissions. Around Christmas, it's really easy to rack up cash for me.

Anyway, it's Thursday and Random.org gave me an 11, so I guess Sports it is.

I'm getting a bit out of shape lately (not reaching the couch potato levels of yore, but still, not ideal), so I'm starting a new workout. I'm going to give one of JaxBlade's latest plans a go. Although I don't think I can get a bucket of sand. And I'm replacing running with rope jumping because it's about to get icy and I don't want to fall to my death. So yeah, more to the spirit than to the letter.

Man, I want to swim but the pandemic really made me rethinks that life choice.

306 Name: ThatGuy!AnOHItoBQY : 2020-11-13 03:48 ID:48A5NVAS [Del]

I never learned to swim myself. When I was a child I had some coordination issues, and later on I never really had the chance. I still hope to learn at some point, it seems fun, and I think it's one of the best "survival skills" you can learn.

307 Name: Skeptix : 2020-11-13 21:37 ID:wHi486rR [Del]

>>306 When I was younger I used to forget how to swim every year and had to relearn over the summer. I'm actually a great swimmer now. It's the only active thing I can do without losing my breath. My stamina is horrible but with swimming? I can swim an Olympic Size pool without hardly any issues. Swimming is something everyone should learn to do anyways. It really is something that could save your life one day. Also teaching people to float is incredibly important.

308 Name: Chief : 2020-11-14 00:44 ID:1Ub3h9nP [Del]

I understand why someone would rethink swimming in these times. But swimming is a great skill and can also be great for exercise and health.

Anyways. Don’t let the pandemic stop you from doing the things you want to do. Just be safe while doing so.

>>307 I know, but still, I never had the combination of location, time, and money to get some swimming lessons. Soon enough the money won't be an issue; but I'm still in the middle of nowhere without a reliable means of transportation. So yeah, guess I'll have to keep postponing that one once again, much to my chagrin.

At least I learned how to climb trees last summer, that was also long overdue.

310 Name: Skeptix : 2020-11-15 19:16 ID:wHi486rR [Del]

>>309 I- what did you do in your childhood??? I used to get stuck in trees cause I would climb them too high and have to get help out. Did you just- not exist??? Were you sheltered from the backyard?

311 Name: ThatGuy!AnOHItoBQY : 2020-11-15 19:51 ID:48A5NVAS [Del]

>>310 Well, like I said, I used to have some coordination issues. I didn't do all that much physical activities because, well, I sucked at them big time. Most attempts at running would end up with me somehow tripping over my own feet and falling face-first on the ground. So, instead, I played videogames. I got into writing too.

Really, my first non-pathetic attempts at physical activity were in my early 20s. I even managed to fail PE a couple of times in middle and high school.

312 Name: Skeptix : 2020-11-15 22:29 ID:wHi486rR [Del]

>>311 Damn... That really sucks to hear. I practically lived outside. I do pass my PE classes but I endure s(pain) after. But hey, at least with age you've managed to get better at psychical activities. Ever tried tubing? It doesn't take a lot of psychical motion. Just clean up when you get to the drop-off spot and if you have a group, pulling around the tubes here and there.

313 Name: ThatGuy!AnOHItoBQY : 2020-11-16 03:09 ID:48A5NVAS [Del]

>>312 Sounds pretty nice. Although really, it's not much of a problem nowadays, jogging and calisthenics (and just losing weight) helped me a great deal. Hell, I even managed to learn how to jump rope at some point, which I'm still surprised about years later.

>>313 Still worth trying out once or twice. Tubing is great. All summer down my family goes down to Macon (smack middle of our state) and tube nearly every day. We also camp out there. The whole community is like a big southern party on the river. It's great showing off my rope swing skills -w-

Well it's Thursday again and I rolled an 8, so it seems like Literature is the topic now.

So, once again, I find myself in National Novel Writing Month (although I don't live in the US so the "National" part shouldn't apply, but let's ignore that) without any time to dedicate to my writing projects. Last I ever had any time to write a chapter for my novel was all the way back in July or so, and it doesn't seem like I'll have a chance again in at least a month. So... rip me, I guess?

317 Name: Firion !ZeMESPtKtE : 2020-11-20 04:10 ID:2p3iN5bE [Del]

Hmm, not sure myself what the topic Literature supposed to mean. Especially since I didn't closely followed anything literature-related stuff.

Well except probably my comrades on Hololive rabbithole who wrote Hololive fanfic(s). As cringe as a script might've sounded like, that doesn't exonerate the fact that someone sat down for hours or even days forming up those words into a legible bunch of paragraphs.

Also, shoutout to the old Dollars series. Haven't got the time to read any, but I suppose if anyone wanted to know the existence of Hekaton then here it is.

318 Name: ThatGuy!AnOHItoBQY : 2020-11-20 05:12 ID:48A5NVAS [Del]

>>317 Well, I thought that the point of this thread was to pick randomly one of the main boards of the BBS as a topic (except Main and Random) and talk about it for a week.

Whatever the case, I've been planning to write a pretty Dollars-esque book ever since I've watched Durarara. You know, the basic stuff about writing short stories about the lives of very different characters that are somehow connected to each other in an often non-obvious way. I have the outlines for a handful of the stories, but considering my work life and the projects that I want to get done before starting with that, it'll probably be several years before any of it sees the light of day.

322 Name: Nyanka !cSsNy1w6Kk : 2020-11-23 10:04 ID:By9L86eK [Del]

^ Lol, as far as topics go I've never even noticed that it's only supposed to be one of the boards. The few times I've started this I just pick a random thing for us to discuss. One time I did the weather and Viteau once chose Net Neutrality as a topic so I don't think that it's a super strict thing.

Back to literature though... I'm 262 pages into my vampire novel. I think I've only got around 100 pages left before I finish it. I was thinking that I wanted to get it finished by February... I don't know how feasible of a time table that is though now that I have a second job. :/

My wizard story is coming along quite nicely though. I'm working on the 2nd chapter right now and I can't wait to finish it and start posting it. I'm hoping that it'll be ready to go by late december.

>>316 (Guy) Lol, I stopped doing Nano back in high school. It's way too difficult for me to hit that deadline with that word count. I'm a real slow writer.

323 Name: ThatGuy!AnOHItoBQY : 2020-11-23 10:23 ID:48A5NVAS [Del]

>>322 Uh, I'm also pretty slow myself. Or rather, I work in random spurs of productivity. Sometimes I can get several chapters done in a couple of weeks, sometimes that can take me several months.

At any rate, ever since I found about NaNoWriMo (some 3 years ago) I wanted to give it a try, but it always seems to be a bad moment. In my field, it seems that the senior people almost always take their summer holidays in August, so September is their month of "starting things over again". However, I usually take mine in September (because it's much cheaper), so by the time I arrive in late September-early October, I always have a lot of shit to do. Then I don't manage to get it all sorted out in one month and it bleeds over to November, when I just start working at twice the pace to get things done before the Christmas holidays.

At the end of the day, it seems like late-spring/early-summer is a much better time for me to give my writing projects the love they deserve. If things don't change, I guess I'll end up making up my own personal version of NaNoWriMo that only applies to me and starts in June, and see if I can get an actual novel done in just one month.

For this week let's talk about our favorite holiday foods.
I know not everybody on here celebrates Thanksgiving, but there are other holidays coming around which always involve lots of food.

I know I've said this before, but turkey happens to be my favorite bird to eat. It has a very specific flavor which I highly enjoy. This is part of the reason why I enjoy Thanksgiving so much.
At Christmas time my favorite foods is the homemade candies my mom and I make. Every year (and only around Christmas) me make a bunch of chocolate sweets like rocky road, fudge, and peanut butter balls. Sometimes we make cookies too, but not always. I was thinking this year that I wanted to bake my own gingerbread cookies and build a house from them rather than buying a store bought one because homemade is always better.

>>326 This may sound weird, but when I think of "Christmas food", what comes to mind is codfish with cauliflower, which is what we used to make for New Years' Eve when I was a child. I kind of miss it, fish is pretty hard to come by where I'm living (not to say prohibitively expensive in most cases).

Nowadays, I really don't have any "Christmas food" that so much as repeats twice in a row. My mother is an excellent cook and she likes to try out new recipes (especially on special occassions), so we usually end up making something different every single time. Last year we made the "Yule Log" cake. It was pretty nice! I have no idea why such a cake should be restricted to Christmas. But then again that does hold true for most "holiday food".

I honestly only remember Ramadhan is coming up on April, and I know there will be lots of rendang during that particular holiday so hooray for that. I used to look forward to this holiday also because everyone will prepare cookies and all sorts of snacks because we would visit each other's houses and just kinda hangs around and talk a bit before visiting the other neigbors, also ate some of their prepared handmade cookies on our way. Kinda defeats the purpose when your mum makes them every week or so, she started selling them preorders and it has been going great. I can eat the leftovers at least xP

^^ RTT is random thoughts for the day and Weekly discussions is random thought for the week. :P

Also I do believe it was Simone Biles who dropped out for mental health.

I watched the clip from Women's weightlifting where the Philipines athlete (I forgot her name) won the first ever gold medal for the Philipines which was super cool.

Yesterday I watched a tennis match between Medvedev from ROC and Fognini from Italy (I think that's how you spell their names) and that whole match was so full of drama. It was super hot and Med accused the supervisor of only making them play for money and was asking who would be responsible if he died etc. meanwhile Fog's on the end making mistake after mistake and in frustration throwing his racket, cussing, and yelling die over and over. Probably the most vocal I've ever seen tennis players lmao.

I've also been watching the skateboarding. I just really love watching them do tricks and the camaraderie between the competitors is so refreshing to see.
