I've been looking into some sites to sell my shirt designs on. So far, I'm thinking about Society6. Has anybody actually used it to buy from? How is the service? It looks easy to get it set up, but I want to make sure that people who order from me will get what they bought.
Speaking of which, I need to get started on making more designs.

Some driver update broke my laptop

Follow me on this one... The wireless adapter... is causing latency... on my sound card. Meaning I'd have to either plug an ethernet cable in (and disable my adapter) or buy a usb wireless adapter just so I can use my laptop for anything like Pandora or YouTube without stutter, pop, or any other audio glitch.

It took me roughly three days to figure any of this out and I'm just really fed up with trying to get it working. I want to just revert to a time it worked.

I give props to anyone who writes young characters well. It's easier for young authors since they know the varying maturity levels of their own crowd without the defensive bias of an adult or authority, but I do think it's do-able for anyone who's open-minded.

Problem being that there are nuances to different ages /and/ different individuals that get lost when a lot of adults try to write young characters. They put too much effort into trying to generalize the attitudes of each particular age group vs gender and then build the characters within those rules (usually with only the protagonist being the exception). They could make those "rules" just be a casual in-universe context that influences characterization *during* plot building to a *reasonable* degree instead of making it step one of their character development skeleton, but that rarely happens.

This is usually why YA tends to be 100% cringe to me no matter how solid the overarching plot or concept is.

When I create characters in my fantasies, I tend to focus more on the character's thoughts, behavior, and interaction with other characters than the actual setting. I'm not that good at world building, so I focus more on the personalities.

Other characters I have created include an adoptive mother and her child (which didn't last too long) and a masculine woman. I didn't think of names for any of my characters. I can't think of any names.

A lot of the characters I make are remakes of other characters. I call them remakes because I completely change and rebuild the character's personality and backstory. My "remade" characters include Sakura Haruno, Misaki Ayuzawa, Nanami Momozono, Tatsumi from Akame ga Kill, as well as most of the main cast (even though I only watched two episodes of the show), and all three siblings from Aki-Sora.

Many even find it offensive to find someone much younger than themselves doing much better than them in any way - financially, emotionally, educationally, etc. You can see this bias in everything from the multi-generational gap of old men in the tech industry (whining about young bosses not deserving their positions) to the few year difference between teens and preteens (social stigmas against interacting with younger grades).

This is why it's so much more difficult to write children than adults when you are beyond childhood. You have a delusional and biased perspective of anything younger than yourself. Unless an author acknowledges that this is a fact of life and constantly works with it in mind, it's going to show in their writing of younger characters in some form to some degree (to those of us who read and review it) whether THEY notice it or not. Pretending that they "don't see age" or that they're "above those characterization thoughts" won't make it disappear from their writing. Just imo.

When did I mention sensitivity to youth in elevator cultures? I mean, I didn't even know what an elevator culture is until you explained it...unless you added that solely to explain why authors have such a difficult time creating younger characters.

But I think we're kind of on the same boat here. Rather than the process of creating younger characters legitimately being more complex than creating adult characters, it is instead the misconception of youth that these authors carry.
Which I suppose would technically mean that creating younger characters WOULD be more difficult...
Even though I don't think it's more difficult, personally. Just that overgeneralizations are used in these stories.


On a slightly unrelated note (this sounds familiar), I believe "Okay For Now" and "Wednesday Wars" by Gary D. Schmidt have good characters, as well as "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio and "The Valley of Secrets" by Charmian Hussey.

I also think that "Wednesday Wars" and "Okay For Now" do best in developing the relationships between characters, as well as the characters themselves. Something that I need to work on.

I think I could write a legitimately enjoyable memoir.

Too bad the family members most likely to sue are still alive.

Anyway, lightboxing helped tremendously. Rose anatomy is just a bunch of really awkward layers of petals that gradually increase in size and wither at the tips.

I think its weird how one door, one absolutely horrid door in a person's life can close in such a twisted way... and another door, an amazing one, a beautifully crafted Victorian door open almost instantaneously afterwards.

I'll explain:

I was in a mentally abusive relationship for eight months. I am sure one of you has given me advice on how to break free of that. For that I thank you...

As the end drew closer, she treated me worse. She would say really mean and nasty things to me and then tell me she loved me at the end. Eventually I stopped buying the bullshit, and I broke free of her grasp. She tried every way to get me to be with her again. From attempting to bring me to court over items she had left at my place, to contacting my family in attempts to get a hold of me.

In the end, I walked away from the relationship with a lot of mental stress.


Cut two months later, and this goddess walks into my life. With all of her flaws, and all of her glory, her perfections and imperfections... she has acquired real estate in my head and is starting to move towards my heart.
