So uhm,I wondered what saying are there in other countries?I live in Greece so here's one Greek saying : "Οποιος νυχτα περπατει,λασπες και σκατα πατει". It translates to "Whoever walks at night,steps on dirt and filth." It means that if you're going towards the unkown,you're bound to face some problems.
"That really gets my goat!" An expression heard from the older generations in America. I was wondering if British people said it too.
It just means "that really irritates me". Why a goat? I have no idea.
Another one is "A bigger bang for your buck", which just means you're getting even more for your money. We've talked before about how "buck" (as in the deer) is used in place of "money" sometimes... But not sure what the bang is. The hunting rifle?

1. Colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra in January- it's really freaking cold 2. Too big for their own britches- they've got a huge ego 3. It's raining camels- heat wave 4. It's raining cats and dogs- torrential rain 5. Fell out of a tree and hit every branch on the way down- really ugly 6. Hotter than a goat's butt in a pepper patch- sexy 7. High flootin' Yankees- northerners that think they're better than southerners
1) "You have to eat what you've cooked." - basically, meaning that if you made trouble, you have to pay for it. The same meaning goes for "Eat the crumbs left from your own bread." 2) "Frequent drops make stone falter." - if you do something ofter enough, it's bound to bring results. 3) "Hunger is the best cook." - do I even have to explain this one? 4) "It's like throwing pearls to pigs." - wasting your effort on someone who doesn't deserve it. 5) "Where the wind blows, there the cape goes." - used to describe a person who changes sides according to another person who's in a better position, hoping to warm in their shadow. 6) "Who lies, also steals." 7) "When two are fighting, a third is laughing." - about the simple fact that rivalry can be beneficial to a third party. 8)"He's got an eye of a jokester's cow." - exceedingly fails at judging the situation. 9) "Too many dogs mean the hare's death." - Well... Homo homini lupus. Especially when there's more of them. 10) "Don't reap what you haven't sown." - don't take credit for something you have not done.
