Hey guys, sorry to bother you but I have a quick question needed to resolve an argument.
A fight has erupted between me and another person about whether Goku or Superman would win in a fight and I am wondering on your opinions.

Personally I would say Superman because well... He's superman, pretty much invincible. (Also, if worst comes to worst he can travel back in time and kill Goku as a baby).

I'm agreeing with that more after watching what >>5 posted.
While Goku is awesome and, to me, a better hero-thing in the first place, Superman's powers are and are meant to be limitless.

But then there is what >>2 posted, which also makes sense. This argument is hard because there's no real numbers or way to prove who would win in a fight.

But unless Goku drove Superman away from the sun or something, I doubt he'd win :(

Look at the numbers (Not power levels). The creators of dbz also said themselves "Power levels are just numbers, nothing more." This is also proof that "powerlevel" was just bullshit talk...

Really now, goku can obliterate an entire planet, probobly an entire galaxy, espechialy if this is the end of GT goku. Superman can shoot some dinky lasers and is strong, fast and near invulnerable. Still in the end i dout superman could stand a minute against goku at full streanth. One hit and he;d be dead.

The thing is if Superman were to travel back in time to kill Goku as a kid, Goku can do this 5 times faster. His SSJ1 Kamahameha travels 5 times faster than the speed of light (Supermans speed limit) and he has been known to use it to help him fly faster.
His strength is also hundreds of times stronger than Superman.

Superman, but for all the wrong reasons

Superman was originally written probably as a morale boosting comic 1938. Note his color scheme representing the US. The original writers never actually intended for him to ever even break a sweat, as he is supposed to be a "Murica is so awesome" type icon. Before you go mentioning kryptonite, it wasn't added until 1949, 11 years later than the inception of the original comic. Thus, since characters are as invincible as the plot requires them to be, superman ranges from just strong enough to god-like as the story demands.

Goku, while amazingly powerful is actually beatable through extreme, though conventional means (by the story's standard).
I'm pretty certain that he dies a few times and actually has to train to beat his foes. He is meant to have a hard time and occasionally lose, even with decreased impact of character mortality.


Thus superman would win, not because he is inherently a tougher character, but because he would inevitably be written in as the winner as it is part of his character design/purpose. (Which is sad, because he's a bit of a boring hero. Goku is cooler.)
