Okay, so perhaps you guys can explain this better, chances are that I won't even need this in my life and it's just extra knowledge, but I want to learn it anyways.

I'll start by explaining the little I know: In our modern world, we live a base ten numerical system, which means we use the numbers 0-9 when making... well.... numbers. therefor we're able so have numbers such as 19. or 999. What I can't wrap my mind around is the fact that there are other numerical systems, why they exist, how they exist, and what the fuck they even are.

It turns out that 2 based numerical system is actually my beloved binary. Who would have thought?

Some of them exist because the people who envented them were bored and started doing maths other exit because some civilisation never got the knowledge of the ten numerical system, I think that's why the Roman Number exist: I, II, III, IV, V, VI etc..

And just an FYI the 0 wasn't in our numerical system until the we found the Mayan civ, they were the first people who used 0 on mathematical calculations.

Also maybe there are other Num. Sys. because they are applied to different stuff which the normal ten Num. Sys. could not be used.

I know that hexadecimal (0-F) is used in computer programming just like binary. There's also octal (0-8) which I've seen used in programming and just straight up calculation to be translated into hexadecimal. As for their origins, I'm afraid that I've no idea.
