I've been thinking about this a lot lately and I wanted to hear other people's idea's on how they would go about it. Here's the placement:
The country has shut down. No cars, no electricity, no government.Cizilization has been cut off, leaving you're community having to go back to REALLY old traditions. There isn't a way to keep time, except for watches that will eventually run out of battery. The community you're in has appointed you leader and expects you to act as such. Figure out ways to keep time, preserve technology (so future generations can have advantages when the time comes) and protect your community from any threats..

I would have my dad fix the wires and electric stuff. For him, no fix-it job is too big. Except fixing something literally unrepairable. The electricity would be back on in a maximum of two hours.
I live in a small enough town so I would probably aspire to be leader. Slowly manipulating different people and starting small fuedel wars I would divide so that I might unite and be looked upon favourably. Once in control of the town I would set up a structured social hierarchy and order rations as appropriate in terms of need. Setting up old fashioned farming systems if not already in place and handling the lack of electricity would be my first priority. Once I got the town in order I would move out, scavenging weapons then by peace/force absorb nearby communities much like the roman empire. I would create a kingdom in my area and head for the nearest harbour to escape the chaos.
I would probably leave for a distant mountain and build some sort of home up there. Eventually I would come back down and watch the other survivors rebuild and help them every so often in return for food.
