What are assassins really like? (17)

1 Name: Yuki : 2012-11-02 15:56 ID:dAstYa5k [Del]

Just so you know I have no idea where to put this so I thought this would do.

Everybody knows about the assassins who put poison in drinks and snipe like a badass but does anyone know what assassins are truly like? Are they normal people (probably not) or superhumans? What kind of weapons do they use? If you know anything about real assassins, please post here.

The things I know an assassin would most likely have is some sort of knife, one that's small enough to easily hide, yet still large and sharp enough to deal some serious damage, even land a kill blow. It has to be at least sharp enough to pierce and slice skin. An assassin would be a normal person but is highly trained to be able to kill a person quickly, quietly, and also effectively. This would probably be common sense.

Most, if not all, real assassins are people that can't do anything but kill to get paid.
I saw a documentary about Afghan assassins (Most assassins/Hitmen are Afghan) and the typical assassin gets paid 500$ or higher to kill just about anyone from politicians to someone you just don't like.
They will follow the target for a week or more then kill according to how the contractor wants it. Though it has to look like an accident or leave no evidence behind. The easiest way to get a hold of an assassin/Hitman is to ask a friend if he knows one, believe it or not, most do know one or another person who knows one. If something goes wrong, the contractor almost always gets ratted out by the assassin.
A typical assassin has 15+ kills.

Does assassins still exist anyway? I mean, in my mind, assassins are kinda like Medieval things... i don't know, i just can't imagine assassins in actual days .... and, if so, i just can't imagine a nowadays assassin with a simple knife and a bow xD

Well you're thinking of a Hit man. Normally they live a normal life so as to not bring any attention to his real job. A secret life. They don't have super powers. They have skills.

Many hit men just so happen to have Military Training. In a lot of cases, they are Mercenaries.

The word "Assassin" has changed its meaning over the centuries. Originally, the term just means "One who smokes hashish".
The original assassins, would be under the influence of different drugs, thus making them more able to separate themselves from reality, to preform horrible acts.

In today's time however, assassins are much different from hitmen, not in occupation, but more of a CLASS structure. Hit men take simple jobs, such as a spouse or business rival/partner, not much skill is required and the hit is (to the client) a personal/selfish purpose.
Where as an assassin would take on higher targets mainly for (again to the client) obtaining, keeping, or destroying power, or for political agendas.
The thing about assassins, since they're more political and their actions can change the world, They are more prone to choose their jobs wisely, otherwise they're likely to make all their money completely useless.

Okay here's the thing. Most "assassins" are government personal. Most assassination attempts are performed either by military special forces, or by a government agency such as the CIA. The targets for such attempts are usually terrorist or opposing military leaders that prove themselves to be a threat to the security of the government and the people of it's nation. That's the truth of the matter.

Well yes and no. Many assassinations are performed by a countries spec ops. However many others are performed by mercs. Most countries or people will simply hire mercs to do those ops since they can easily lie about it. Mercs get money, job gets done, nobody usually has solid proof of who to blame since no orders were given. The mercs themselves can live normally. They get their money and live their lives. When they have a job, they go. Quick and quiet. That's is the world of the mercenary. Todays assassins. In the U.S. they started saying "security forces" since the goverment doesn't want "mercenaries". Same thing though. That's the truth of it.

What are you talking about, the Navy Seals snipers are assasins. I recall a hostage situation in the ocean a couple years back, that required the skills of an elite killer. The snipers snuck up on them took aim and with no room for error they killed the attackers while not being noticed, and with no harm done to the hostages. If that isn't an assassin, then what is?

For the record, >>11>>12>>14 None of these are assassins. They're just military personnel. It's the very rare occasion that a government will sanction assassinations. This doesn't however, change the fact that these people are not assassins.
