Violence Comfortable? (6)

On a daily basis violence is constantly associated with rhetoric in the news and entertainment. Is it because America thrives off of war? How come suffering is a way to make people laugh?

In America, Everything primarily has to cater to the happiness of it's people. So long as what ever it takes to please us doesn't threaten the moral standards of society than this type of demand in America is healthy. But today in America most people have a far too strong satisfaction for violence. Since violence makes most people happy in America, people demand violence on t.v. When were at war, the carnage and fatalities may be brutal to other countries but not for us. Rarely do wars take place in America, today's modern warfare tactics are less visible to the public when people are being obliterated by missiles leaving some bodies unseen, and the violence were exposed to on T.V. makes it seem even more harmless.

We all know that violence is immoral, but in the end every kid wants to see a good fight at school. Violence is widely accepted not because it's immoral but because of the fact that it makes us happy. A child may eat a whole bag of candy knowing he is going to have his teeth pulled later on, but will continue to eat that bag of candy cause it taste good. This is the political mind set of the General American People.

I mean no disrespect to anyone, I just want to help.

...You.

You.

I just....

You!

What rock did you just crawl back out from under? I thought you left BBS almost a year ago after your initial spree of good-intentioned-but-horribly-misapplied-whiteknighting got shot down.

Duely noted.

In regards to your question - Labeling it "America's mindset" is inaccurate. People everywhere enjoy violence - It's a natural part of our instinct. It's not just something we go "haha, pain and death and misery is funny when it's not happening to me."

It's the manifestation of the high you feel when you are right, or you win. Violence was and is primarily used in regards to disputes or territory protection; both in humans and animals. It's only natural to feel positive when you defend your lands, gain new lands, proven right, or you "win".

The only thing that's changed for humans is our capacity for higher thought allowing us to theorize, empathize, and relate to the feelings of loss the other side is feeling - It clashed with our societal installed "moral compass" of right and wrong where we don't want to inflict pain on other people because it's not "good".

Unless we're doing it for some righteous reason... Like defending land, gaining new land, or being proven right.

So not much has changed really, except now we have a nagging voice artificially installed in the back of our heads going "this is wrong."

For some people, that voice is louder than others. But once you zoom out to the macro scale, it evens back out to a minority of people stalwartly going "this is wrong." while the majority of them are like "YEAH WE DEFENDED/CONQUERED/WERE RIGHT"

The only time the majority of people end up feeling regret is when they lose something - Which goes back to the "losing and not winning" thing. But that's the explanation of why we like it when it doesn't effect us.

"It" always effects us - We're positive about violence when we win, and negative about it when we lose.

Pretty self explanatory.

>>3 I think you may be better off in the Personal board.
You seem to have the taste of emotional autojustification that an emotionally unbalanced individual may appreciate. I disagree with your ideas as a whole, as well as almost each one in their individual rights, but I'm going to shorten it by siding with Ayanavi on this one.

Seems like a good Main-worthy topic, really.
