Entertainment Before Internet Access. (11)

I'm curious about the things people did before they personally had internet access, or just owned a computer in general. For example, I am 18 now but we didn't have a computer until I was about 10, and even then, we played computer games rather than spending hours online. Anyone remember the first time they discovered Youtube? Did anyone else play something as simple as Pick-up Sticks before hand? Or that game every kid seems to know, "The floor is lava!"

Read books.

That's pretty much it. I didn't get internet til I was 14(I'm 16 now). And I didn't get to go outside and frolic with other children because of my overprotective dad. Bored games and video games just never interested me and I had a few kids to play with for about three hours after school ended.

I read books, watched television (it rotted my brain), played DS once in a while, and once in a while (not after the third grade) I would have a friend over...Third grade, bad memories. I think I might have climbed trees or something but I'm not sure. I didn't get access until I was like, ten or something so blegh.

Tv, old games like Zelda, and pretty much spent the whole day outside with my brothers(4) and sisters(3). :)

We got about three computers and ran a business with it for more than two years, I believe. I think it was $1 per hour so mostly my brother's friends were over at our house playing games.

I lived on card games :x I've had the internet since I was pretty little (/youngin), but before I was allowed on the computer, my mom and I used to sit around and play card games. Board-game wise, I also loved Jenga and checkers. I played a lot of hide and seek and flashlight tag (our version of which was pretty much hide and seek in the pitch black with only a half-dead flashlight to lead the way).

I didn't have a very physically active childhood >>' The most excerise I got was at the park every now and again.

I first discovered YouTube a short while after I discovered what anime actaully was. It wasn't a big deal for me. The only thing I used YT for was AMV's and music. That's also the only thing I use it for now lol

The first thing I ever did on the internet was play Runescape. My brother was getting annoyed with me and just put me down at the computer, guided me through the process of making a character, and then told me to level up as much as I could. By then, I was used to the computer itself, but the internet was new to me. Scared the crap out of me when I first refreshed (since I thought I lost all of my save information like in videogames).

I used to... hmm, steal strawberries from the fields... eat ripe mangoes and hangout by the riverside.. climb trees, catch frogs and snails.. hmmm, run around with friends and play games. That's during sunny days. When it rains I usually just play board games with my siblings.. either that or draw and write... aw man, childhood was fun! :D

I did mostly normal things as a child - making kites with friends and flying them, playing hide and seek, playing with the neighbours pets and board games. Then one rainy day, I explored the storeroom and found my dad's tool box. I've been disassembling things to see how they work for entertainment since then..though I haven't completely figured out how to put some things back together again..which got me into quite a lot of trouble back then.

I was only allowed to play the playstation during holidays, so I guess it doesn't count? I generally found out about the internet from primary school, as well as the fact that we had a computer at home.

How things have changed..and I didn't know about "the floor is lava". My siblings would pretend the floor was the sea and pile the chairs, table and cushions into a makeshift ship, which was probably one of the coolest things back then. Except the cleaning up part. That was horrible and took forever. -_-"
