I don't wanna be THAT person... but are some people really so unimaginative that they have to use names like "setton" and "mikado"? I'm not trying to bag on people, but it gets really annoying when your trying to talk to someone and there are like 20 people with their same name. I know that's what tipcodes are for, but most people ae either too stupid to figure out how to make one, o are just to lazy to care...
All I want is for people to at least TRY and be original!!

To the first sentence: Yes, they are. But not only Shizuo, Mikado, etc. They also stick with "Kuro", "L", or some other anime themed name. And note, ONLY ANIME CHARACTER'S NAME.
And I'm pretty sure there was a thread talking about original names, but if my memory serves me correctly, it wasn't in general, this thread is.
Also, what's up with the last two paragraphs?

They want it for the feel of being a fan in its truest form, trying to get what the anime had. If that makes any sense
I actually dont think this has been tackled before, so bravo.
A good amount of people are original, but i definitely agree that it is bothersome that there can be 20 different shows of the same name in one day.
Luckily for you, they dont stay long after realizing what this site is, and if they do, then they stay mainly in the chats.
As you have probably noticed, everyone is using tripcodes now-a-days, even if its a completely original name that nobody would have thought of unless they were taking 5 different mixtures of acid.

Well, they're using tripcodes for one of the following reasons:
1) To emulate the other people
2) To make sure they don't get trolled
3) To look cool
