>>43Except that this thread isn't claiming any of it is true. This thread is asking the question, 'If the world was going to end, how would you spend your time left?'. It's basically a game. We're not all idiots who think the world is going to end because people don't know how calendars work.
Also, this Leap Year argument is not true, because these calculations were not based on solar cycles, but an exact number of days (including these leap year days, which were taken into account) and December 20st is in fact, the date the Mayan Long Calender would end. Thus, December 21st 2012 is the beginning of a new 'long count'. Remember, no Mayans ever said 'December 21st'. They did not have a December 21st. Scientists had to count up to a number, internet idiots got a hold of this number, and decided it's the end of the world. Did we really all believe that where thousands of historians, scientists, and mathematicians supposedly failed, one random person on the internet figured this all out?
Also, Mayan's did have something of a Leap Year, although theirs was not nearly as direct and structured as ours. They added a day whenever they felt like they needed it. Their Calender is also almost as accurate as our own, probably moreso, as we only worry about days and years, and they mapped the movement of the entire cosmos with an astounding level of skill. Otherwise, they'd see seasons move as much as 20-25 days a lifetime.
So, tl;dr:
• Correct, the world is not going to end.
• This is basically a game.
• Leap Year changes nothing. In fact, it changes nothing about a date that has no meaning, so Leap Year changes nothing about nothing. :l
• Again, this is a game/discussion.
• No real reason for this thread to die.
• Kay dislikes misconceptions. Can you tell?
And finally, my answer:
I think I'd spend my remaining time simply relaxing. There'd be no more pressure for the future, so I'd simply do whatever I wanted to. Play some video games I never got around to, visit a foreign country, climb a mountain, or whatever I happened to feel like doing.
