Official 90's kids thread and all the wonders the 90's had to offer (62)

1 Name: archadmiral!ISvQ2vSsZc : 2011-12-26 00:04 ID:Bd5+ZZD/ [Del]

List your favorite 90's pop culture thing, show movie songs or anything that you missed. Post a pic so we can all associate with it for those young-ins who werent blessed as we were

Rule 1-Post one at a time only one thing so we can all share ours

Rule 2-actually present some personal opinion or copy pasted thing to describe it (but your own opinion would be more fun)

Rule 3- if its a show post the lyrics to the theme song XD

so i shall start with an obscure title that some may have forgotten but i sure havent.. wishBONE!!! whats the story wishbone... ^~^ this dog would imagine wonderful stories of shakespeare and many other notable writers and he would imagine being apart of the stories and it would cross-over to his real life, with great moral reinforcementt but i never felt like i was being treated like a kid.

Here is the theme song lyrics:

What's the story, Wishbone?
What's this you're dreaming of?
Such big imagination on such a little pup
What's the story, Wishbone?
Do you think it's worth a look?
It kinda seems familiar, like a story from a book
Shake a leg now, Wishbone
Let's wag another tale
Sniffing out adventure with Wishbone on the trail
C'mon, Wishbone
What's the story, Wishbone? [x

Back in the 90's our movies werent as fru fru as they are today, nothing fancy just baddassness, back when mel gibson actually held respect in his name Lethal weapon franchise was the epitome of just cops who dont give a damn but still did their shit right.
Riggs and Murtaugh were some of the onscreen characters that we had as heroes

there was one PC educational game I played as a kid. I cant remember the name of it, I just remember it was a spelling game and you where a little Australian type villager man and you traveled by a raft on the river. After every 5 (maybe 10) levels you had to do a spelling test to advance further. The individual levels had you traverse a map (top down view) as you collected tiles by solving puzzles.

Yeah I remember getting a PS1 at a garage sale like forever ago but never played it on the account of not having the power cord nor a game. It's been in my closet ever since.

But oh well, I was always more of a N64 and original Xbox kid anyways.

Anyone remember how badass and awesome the cartoons we had were? I miss stuff such as the old Batman, Swat Kats, Gargoyles and the like? Even some "newer" stuff like Batman Beyond kind of brings a bit of nostalgia back for me. And they actually had a plot with some meaning to it.

Stuff today seems kind of soft, and dumbed-down. :/

>>42>>43 i had a pager that time. it only beeped for my mom. i only beeped on certain days. so it barely beeped throughout the semester. and one more thing... Hot Wheels And Barbies.

46 Name: Alfred_Juumonji!yZs/RnAftw : 2012-01-08 17:40 ID:scqiMIDn [Del]

>>45 Noooo! Not the accursed Barbie! ...that was invented a long time before the 90s...

Oh, I miss all those awesome cartoons that actually had a point to them... Right now I'm comparing the Superman cartoon with that newish cartoon, Spliced. Ugh... get me a time machine, let me go back there...

But anyways, this next paragraph pretty much sums up my feelings.

The best decade ever. I was a kid in the 90's, I remember playing tag 24/7 with my friends, and playing sports all day long. Lots of people loved Tony Hawk, if you didn't trade Pokeman cards you were a loser, Power Rangers was an awesome show, and nickelodeon had some of its best shows on in the 90's... what was the name of that show with the two beavers? Other good shows were The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Family Matters, not only was this the best decade ever, everything seemed so much more laid back back then. Right now, I'm seriously looking around and going WTF? I see little 7 yr old kids with iPods and advanced gaming systems (my cousin for example), and a lot of then don't even know what the Looney Toons is (like my other cousins). Oh, and rap. Rap was way better in the 90s.

Oops, I guess I ranted a little. Sorry...

>>46 Cartoons = Best EVAR!

The only problem was SOCIETY!

I wanted to be a powerpuff girl, people thought I was queer.

BUT OH, IT'S ALRIGHT IF I WANTED TO BE A TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE, EH? Screwed up people, I tell you.
Screwed Up!

>>46 yes cartoons where great!!! loved batman back then, and the looney toons. the new season of the later is seriously lacking!

>>49 guessing you are a guy, in wich case why people thought it odd that you wanted to be a power puff GIRL. at any rate i agree that society has came a long way with accepting people for who they are despite the removal of most non "ideal" comedy from childrens shows such as the whole bugs bunny crossdressing bit (not that it doesnt still have it's short comings).

not to mention the 90's was a safer time, we could leave our house unlocked all day and be gone not havi=eing a thing come up missing. or leave it unlocked while we slept and not worry about being murdered! (i live in a small town between lagrange and howe indiana, so i can just imagine how much the bigger cities are worse since then)

If you're a Filipino 90's kid, there's no way you don't know at least one of these songs (at least if you had t.v.). Here you go. :3

Feel Like Dance by globe and Sweet Soul Revue by Pizzicato 5

And the 90's anime! Morning weekday anime like Princess Sarah, Cedie, Remy, Charlotte... (like watching animated telenovelas XD). And other *awesome* anime like:
- Slamdunk (back then I'd do anything just to watch this, even if it meant escaping our nannies during afternoon nap time)
- Ghost Fighter
- Sailor Moon
- Dragon Ball
- Fushigi Yuugi (though our father always tried his best to prevent us from watching this one XD)
- Ranma 1/2 (refer to 2nd song link ;) )
- the Gundam series
- Evangelion (w/c I never understood back then...)
- Lupin III (my father liked this too XD)
- Mojacko & Doraemon (they're often compared, but I like Mojacko better)
- Pokemon (of course)
- Samurai X
- Flame of Recca
- Magic Knight Rayearth (I still know the Tagalog version of the theme song ♪)
- Saber Marionette series
- Magic Doll Licca (I memorized the chant for using the dolls, but I already forgot :3)
- Cooking Master Boy (afternoon snack time. :)))
- Zenki! (oh I almost forgot this one! PALAKOL NI DIVAAAAA!!!)

...and a lot more. Oooohhh... Nostalgia...
There's not much on cartoons, but there were a bunch of anime. And back then you can buy cheap anime posters almost anywhere!
And Tagalog dubs back then sounded cooler, I think. Less corny? I don't know.

Thinking of more to include.. but I think I should stop here.. :)
