I'll go first,
I want to discuss the philosophy of martial arts, not the physical aspect, but more of the mental/spiritual sides of it,(ex: discussing qi) Where would it go? Random, or Sports?

Either one is fine. Sports board could arguably use more attention, but then, not as many would frequent it, so the cause is a little self-defeating.

If you don't mind that though, you could post it there. But again, random is a catch-all board, so it would be fine here too.

This is a good idea, as long as jerks don't make you feel stupid.

Okay, good to know, well that answered my question.
Now people can use this thread to find out where to put their threads or if it already exists, without the backlash of people getting pissed off.

This depends entirely on whether it's a manga or a story.

A manga tells a story by way of a visual medium, so it would go in Comics.

If it's purely textual, it would go in Literature.

Alright, its currently 120ish, so forgive me for my horrid idea.
What if someone made a thread that was for if people wanted to exchange numbers or emails with fellow dollars, but more specifically. For instance, if i wanted to talk to the doc about some stimulating subject i found on the interwebs, i could request for him to post some way of getting in contact with him. Does this sound like a bad idea, something that would never get used, or misused for some creeper stalkers?

Is sleep asking where would his thread go? Because it'd go in Random. As for if it's a good idea or not, well... Look at the stalker thread. And the new real name thread. Do you have anything to lose from getting an email/phone number? Well... Phone numbers are a bad idea. Emails however are good enough.

Probably wouldn't get used as much as you probably would like to, seeing as how we do have a chat after all. Just pop in there, and since the chat has a feature that can tell you who's in which room through the lounge, you can just check who's in there. Pop in one room, tell the person "Hey, can I talk to you in a private room? It's named ___" and then there you go.

But then again, there are people who don't use the chats, so this thread would be for those people. But that's like a minority among the members, such as myself.

I wish to post a thread on AMV's. would it go under animation, art (mainly because it take a good imagination), films, or random?

I personally would say under "Animation", mainly because the word itself is "Animated Music Videos".

There isn't one specifically for them made, but I've had the idea to make one before simply because my friends and I often run across some pretty amazing ones - It'd be nice to compile and share them.

However, I had the same issue you have - Where to put it. There isn't really a clear cut area for something like that, since it fits in Animation, it may technically fit in Music, it could go in Random of course - But we have plenty of things there, etc...

But my opinion is that it would fit in Animation.

Where would a thread asking for spriters go?

Art? I believe it would go in Art.

Regardless of its purpose or medium, it's still considered art. Technology would be more like talking about programs used for art purposes.

I'm seeking help on writing a very simple calculator program. Does that even merit its own thread? If so, Tech would be the best place for it, correct?

If it's specifically inspiration for writing, then literature.

If you're asking for help with finding inspiration, that goes in Personal.

And idunno about a thread for "inspiration" in general, that seems a bit too vague.

Ah here we go. Wikipedia says it's a form of art, so it could go in the Art board. Ayaka has a point too, it's also a sort of sport. Maybe the music board, because dancing is associated with music, but that's stretching it. So either Art or Sports will do. If not those, Random is always a good place.

And will you look at that, there's a thread for dancing in the Sports board.

Sage is used in imageboards when you don't want to bump stuff but still want to post.

While it could go in missions for a particular kickstarter to help people, It seems we'd get more out of a general kickstarter thread on Random. (Because a kickstarter about a game production would go in games, one about donations to poor would go in missions, ext.)
If it's a general kickstarter thread, seems Random would be the best fit.

Where do you guys think a recruitment thread for an indie game design group would go? I feel like it oughta be in Literature, but it is involving a bunch of different types of artistry that could fall under the Art, Lit, Music, Ani, or Tech. I kind of don't want to put it under Games since it seems like its more for sharing games rather than discussing their creation, but it's the only board that seems to involve each part of it and is directly related to the topic.
