Hitomi Tsukimi had a pretty good idea, so I'm going to build off of that. For the Dollars who attend conventions or would be interested in some kind of meetup, there is the possibility for members to get together, if so desired, at one or more of the six upcoming anime conventions taking place in Florida. Although, for the most part, this would be to the benefit of Florida Dollars, if any Dollars from other regions happen to be present at any of these events, then they would of course be more than welcome to take part in a meetup.

Any ideas where in the convention center we should meet? I was thinking by the maid/host cafe, or by one of the escalators, if there are any idk lol. We should meet each day in case some can only go on a certain day, but at the same time each day... Another idea I had for whenever we meet up is to have a sticker/sign on you that says 'hello my name/username is _______' insert username/name in blank...

If you're planning on going all 3 days, I suggest you pre-order the tickets online before the end if October (they're $26 online!)- since after that the price is higher and then at the door, 3 day tickets are $40...
that's why i pre-ordered my 3 day tickets :)

As it comes closer to the con, I think a definite meeting place and time will be established, but those are some good ideas. You could arrange a meeting time each day too. Personally, I think simultaneous phone alarms going off at the designated time and place would be the best option, that way there won't be members advertising themselves.
Also, I may just show up for one day and not buy a badge, but we will see.

OMG! I wanna go to the Holiday Matsuri one. I live in Orlando. I don't have much money at the moment so I don't think I'll be able to go to one this year.

I've been thinking, for those who aren't going to buy a ticket to HolidayMatsuri, we could have the meeting place somewhere that you don't need a ticket/pass


Also---if you're planning on going to the HolidayMatsuri masquerade ball you can get into the masquerade for free if you bring a toy donation, that's what I'll do if I go to the masquerade

I go to a lot of cons across the US and I don't always buy tickets for them. Artist Allies/Bazaars, cosplaying, photoshoots and select events and panels (occasionally/rarely the dealer's/vendor's room) do not require badges.
If you are in the area, why not check it out; that is how I see it. Personally, visting the tables of artists is my favorite part of any convention.

I think there should be a designated way as well, but I think it should be something that has a smaller chance of non-dollars emulating it. I'm sure there will be plenty of people wearing dollars pins.

Ok, I've came up with a good time for when we should meet up each day at Holiday Matsuri 2011 for a Dollars meetup!

Where: outside the gameroom
Friday: 5 pm
Saturday: 5 pm
Sunday: 10 am
*Set your watch or cell phone's alarm to the designated time set of each meetup each day.
*Also, come maybe 10-15 minutes early, but I'm sure we'll find each other when we hear A BUNCH of phones going off!! :)

I wish I could make it. Hitomi, I hope your meetup is successful. Remember to stay safe, unless you are over 18 don't meet anyone alone or in a secluded or private area. Have a designated way of recognizing each other so you can find each other easier (you may want to use our emailing group and stay in contact with each other during the con via email on your smartphones). Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Thank you! I'm hoping it'll be successful too! I'll be with my best friends the whole time, so don't worry and some of them are Dollars too :) and yeah I'll definitely be using my iphone to email when I'm at the con.
Also, a way to find each othe easier could be to raise our ringing phones in the air if their aren't ALOT of us there.
