Wiccan Dollars (223)

1 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 18:49 ID:8NgK+lib [Del]

So I was wondering how many of my fellow Dollars are Wiccan?

2 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 19:32 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

I'm trying to get into it, but I'm solitary. I think i need a teacher to help me with creating a circle and invoking the goddess and god :(

3 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 20:01 ID:8NgK+lib [Del]

Well I may be able to help you if you like. I don't have the money to buy the books and such so most of what I've learned has been from my own experiances.

4 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 21:26 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

I have books, but they all say different things and they mostly focus on covens. Then my grandmother is Christian and she doesn't approve so I have to be careful when I practice the Craft.

wiccan isnt that like witches and everything

7 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 22:38 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

yes, Wicca does involve the practice and use of magick. We usually get a bad rap simply for that reason as people have preconcieved sterotypes due to movies and books.

"Eight words the Wiccan Rede do fulfill
And ye harm none, do what ye will"

8 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 22:42 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

It is, but it's not as bad as everyone thinks. It's a nature based religion that focuses on the elements and the spirit. The pentagram in Wicca is actually a symbol representing the four elements: Fire (South), Earth (North), Air (East), and Water (West). The top point of the star represents the spirit above the elements. The circle unites the soul with the elements of the earth. All that stuff about devil worship is fiction. Even some Catholic holidays and traditions come from Wiccan traditions such as the mistletoe on Christmas and using eggs on Easter. You don't use the magick to curse people or perform love spells. You do it to enrich your own life and the lives of your loved ones.

sounds intresting i beilive in all forms of religion but this one intrigues me

11 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 22:51 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

By all means, if it interests you, then research it. You'll learn more and you might even want to try it yourself. ^_^

12 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-04 22:54 ID:oV7qQpmK [Del]

im really wanting to try this now lol idk how my mom would handle it tho lol ive never really told her that i beilive in all religions. ^^

13 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 22:59 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

My grandma found my books but didn't say anything until later. She believed that demons were getting me into "Black Magic" but she just doesn't understand. Christianity isn't really my thing but there's some truth in every religion. She's too closed minded though. :/ But, I still love her. Just need to practice when she won't see me :P

14 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-04 23:04 ID:oV7qQpmK [Del]

i think i could get into this i never really got into christianity anyways but this seems more my style and type

15 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:07 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

16 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-04 23:07 ID:oV7qQpmK [Del]

anything that would help me would be nice lol

17 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:20 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

I don't have a lot of books, but I'll tell you what I have so far.

Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf - Very handy for new solitary witches. Tells you basically everything you need to know.

Wicca A Guide for the Solitary Prationer, Living Wicca A Further Guide for the Solitary Practioner, Cunningham's Book of Shadows all by Scott Cunningham - A very well respected Wiccan when he was still among us and still to this day. Anything by him will work to your advantage.

Wicca For Beginners by Thea Sabin - This will teach you the fundamentals and philosophy of the Craft

Nocturnal Witchcraft, Gothic Grimoire, and Nocturnicon all by Konstantinos - These books focus on Wicca after dark. They tell you about "Dark" magick, but used in a good way. Very good if you're drawn to darkness and don't fear it.

The Runes by Lisa Peschel - This is good for learning basic Rune magick. You will see a mention of runes in many Wiccan books, but this goes a little more in depth for beginners.

When looking for Wiccan books in the bookstore, don't buy everything you see with Wicca in the title. Look for a crescent moon on the spine of the book. This will tell you if the book is actually a useful buy or not.

ok thanks so could u like guide me on the path to become a wiccan so i no what im doing and that im doing it right

19 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:23 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

Wow this took off even more than I thought it would. It's great to see people interested in Wicca. BLESSED BE!!

20 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:26 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

>>18 I'm still learning myself and am just studying the books right now. Once I have a better understanding and idea of how to go about actually working on spells, I wouldn't mind helping.

>>19 I'm glad you made this thread ^_^ It's lonely here at home. No one else practices nearby that I know of :( Otherwise I would have more experience in actually practicing spells and chants.

21 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:26 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

Tehre is no RIGHT WAY to move along the path of Wicca. Everybody experiances things differently and so each person's practices and techniques will be different. Just do what feels right to you. I will help you as much as I possible can though.

22 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-04 23:27 ID:oV7qQpmK [Del]

ok thanks

23 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:29 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

That's the good thing about Wicca. There are no set rules, just basic guidelines. You create your own tradition. I would still like to get the basics down first though, before I work on creating my own path.

24 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:30 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

Well that soudns like a mission for our fellow Wiccan Dollars!

25 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-04 23:32 ID:oV7qQpmK [Del]

thanks for the help is there anything i should really note and can we use this thread to talk and stuff

26 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:34 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

lol What a fun mission. ^_^ I have an idea of what my tradition will be like. I'll probably follow something similar to Konstantino's work. Like him, I feel drawn to the darkness. Even when I was little, I liked the darker things in life, but I'm not a bad person. The books he wrote seem interesting to me and it seems natural for me to follow the path of the nightkind

27 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:35 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

Mostly that you should keep an open mind. Wicca is a free group and encourages self exploration. Just do what feels right for you and you should be fine. Remember that you're not alone.

28 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:35 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

to note, should probably research the history and learn about the sabbats and asbats, as well as learn about the gods and goddesses in mythology. They play a role when performing magick.

29 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:36 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

oops, meant esbats

30 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:36 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

>>26 Remember though that darkness exists not in the world itself but in the heart and thoughts of the practitioner.

31 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:39 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

ok, have you started your BOS yet?

32 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:40 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

I have a single spell in my BOS right now. I'm a horrible procrastinator.

33 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-04 23:44 ID:oV7qQpmK [Del]

well im super tierd 1242 here so im going to bed lol

34 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:44 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

So am I. I started it at least. Just knowledgeable things so far. Like notes on runes, the sabbats, certain gods and goddesses, no spells yet.

35 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:45 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

May the Goddess smile upon you. Blessed be! )O(

36 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:47 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

>>34 I have quite a bit of the ancient Gods and Goddess memorized, I'm a huge history buff. I'd like to be able to get ahold of a set of Divination Runes. I use runes myself for stuff but in my nerdiness, they're the Daedric Runes from Teh Elder Scrolls series.

37 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:50 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

I have a set of runes. The instructions are in french, but my runes book helps. It even teaches you to make your own wooden runes. It's not expensive at all

38 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-04 23:51 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

-mouth hanging open like an idiot- I WANT!!

39 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-04 23:56 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

lol you can get it at Barnes and Noble for $6.99

40 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 00:00 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

Teh nearest Barnes & Noble to be is in Louisville, Kentucky and that's an hour and a half away from me. Plus, I have no money.

41 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-05 00:04 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

:( could try amazon? or google how to make runes

42 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 00:07 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

I could do that. OR I could come up a rediculously complicated and unecessary plan.

43 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-05 00:13 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

lol care to let us in on this little plan of yours?

44 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 00:15 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

I am going to secretly shoplift a massive amount of Pixie Sticks. Then I will find a way to remove the color of the powder and pass the Pixie Stick powder off as crack and use the money to purchase my own library collection of books.

45 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-05 00:17 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

lmao XD I like that plan! I could use more books

46 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 00:20 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

no how am I gonna go about that? Hm....

47 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-05 00:22 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

hmmmmmmmmm ask a drug dealer to help you, but make sure it's someone you know so they won't rip you off.

48 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 00:24 ID:+xTZAToU [Del]

I don't know any drug dealers though.

49 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-05 00:30 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

awwwwwww :( Ummmmmmmm ask the goddess for help?

50 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-05 08:55 ID:3VKoUfUV [Del]

question what r the gods and goddesses names i cant search on my phone for some reason and this is the only place my computer will go to so just want their names lol

51 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 10:49 ID:RSLTFB3D [Del]

There aren't any set names for the God and Goddess. Most of the time if they are reffered to as anything other than the God and Goddess they'll be reffered to as the Lord and Lady, the Father and Mother or something similar. Sometimes if you need to you'll have to invoke one of the older gods (Roman, Greek etc.) and in that case you'll simply use the name of the God or Goddess you are requesting help from.

52 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-05 11:03 ID:3VKoUfUV [Del]

k thanks

53 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-05 11:32 ID:3VKoUfUV [Del]

Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.

For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.

To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.

Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.

Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.

Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.

When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.

Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.

When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.

When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.

Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's insight.

Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.

Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.

Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.

When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.

As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.

When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.

When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.

Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.

When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.

With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.

Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.

When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

another question for me the newbie lol what is a rune

61 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-05 15:17 ID:3VKoUfUV [Del]

from not for lol

62 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 16:48 ID:xHzif8QU [Del]

Runes are an ancient and mostly dead form of writing. Long ago though, if something was worth writing, it would be written in runes. The best example I can give you is the Dawrvish alphabet in the Lord of the Rings, it strongly based on the old Norse Runic apphabet.

63 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-05 16:58 ID:3VKoUfUV [Del]

O ok thanks

64 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-05 18:44 ID:xHzif8QU [Del]

>>68 grow up dumbass

Each circle is specific to the caster and depentant on your location. The basics you need to cast a Circle are chalk to mark out a cicle on the groun, something to anchor each of the elements (candles are the most common option here. Blue for water, red for fire, yellow for air, green for earth and violet for spirit). Next you place the candles at the four cardinal points (North, East, South, West) of your circle with Spirit at the center of the circle. Take a chiminey match (a lighter will work too) and go around your circle in a CLOCKWISE circut and light each candle with a greeting and extend an invitation to the elements to empower your circle. Take you time if you need to. Light the Spirit candle last and then you should have a very strong Circle. When you are finished, blow out the candles in REVERSE ORDER (counter-clockwise) with a parting message and thanks to each of the elements.

70 Name: Johnson : 2011-09-06 21:53 ID:ehqc22nU [Del]

well being an athiest gives me some lex so i think im gunna give this a shot. ps where can i get blessed candles.

71 Name: Natalea Frost : 2011-09-06 22:12 ID:wtrFxTm0 [Del]

I'm not Wiccan but I am a Eclectic Pagan. Mostly Kemetic though. I have some small experience in witchcraft, but if I learn anything it's always self taught. Currently trying to learn to control my telepathy better. I always seem to enter my friends mind who's all the way in Michigan and I'm in Texas. It's kind of like walking in on someone naked accidentally. You wish you would have knocked first sometimes XD.

72 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-07 09:47 ID:F8kOYdYe [Del]

>>70 You don't need any special blessed candles. All you need are candles of the colors I listed.

>>71 Sounds like you need to develop your mental muscles a bit more.

73 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 11:54 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

From what I've read, you use items to represent the elements. Candle for fire, a small cup of water, incense for air, and salt for earth. Then you go clockwise, usually starting in the east, and bless each item before returning to the center.

But like Anonymous stated, the circle is unique to the caster. Location is what's bothering me the most since I can't do it at home.

I also read that you need a broom to clear unwanted negative energy before casting the circle, but it has to be a broom that you use only for this purpose. Don't just use the broom you use to clean your house.

Another technique I read about focused on a meditation to cleanse the space you want to work in.

74 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-07 13:52 ID:F8kOYdYe [Del]

I've never done anything special like that. I just have 4 small glasses tat I use. Ideally you would place your elemental representations at the cardinal point that is closest to a natural manifestation of the element. My circle, (as I'm in Indiana) has Water at East, Fire at South, Earth at West, and Air at North. I just use a plain piece of chalk to draw about a 4 foot wide circle on the floor or my room (thankt he Goddess for wood flooring) and then set my glasses out as I said. I just use a glass of water for Water, a glass with a tea light in it for Fire, a glass full of dirt and some tree bark for Earth and an empty glass for Air. Anonymous was me by the way, forgot to type my name in the box :P

75 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 16:41 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

haha ok. Well, sadly I have carpet in my room, so I can't use chalk. I read though that you can visualize it and it'll be just as powerful, but you have to know the border of your circle so you won't break it in the middle of the ritual.

I read a lot more than I do, but as I said earlier, I want to have a good understanding of it before I practice.

76 Name: Ghost : 2011-09-07 16:41 ID:vIieMvL/ [Del]

I myself am agnostic/atheist, but I do consider myself a bit spiritual (if that makes any sense, lol). I find religion to be fascinating though, particular ancient mythology (egyptian, japanese, etc) and what most would call "pagan" (like Wicca). Always an enjoyable experience to learn about other belief systems :)

77 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-07 16:41 ID:rno2obxw [Del]

Question what is a male Wiccan called and I keep seeing initiation and stuff can I initiate myself cause I'm the only one were I live

78 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 16:48 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

Males can still be called witches and yes, you can do self initiations. ^_^

79 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-07 16:51 ID:rno2obxw [Del]

how do i self initiate

80 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 17:30 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

Good question. I know Scott Cunningham explains it in two of the books I mentioned before. If you get them, they can probably answer most of your questions, but you have to study and practice for a year and a day before you can perform an initiation.

81 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-07 17:39 ID:rno2obxw [Del]

id get the books but no money cant get a job cause i just turned 15 really sucks lol

82 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 17:48 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

Hmmmmm, let me check real quick and I'll get back to you. If you can though, I highly recommend saving money and buying the book Solitary Witch by Ravenwolf. If you can just get that book, you'll be set for a really long time.

83 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-07 18:07 ID:rno2obxw [Del]

ive been trying to download that book online but cant find it lol

84 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 18:17 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

I don't think you can. It's over 500 pages

85 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-07 18:18 ID:rno2obxw [Del]

i found it on a couple sites but i need a credit card lol

86 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 18:24 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

You can't really ask your parents to order it either. :/ Is there any way for you to get money? Allowance? Selling snacks at school? Something?

87 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-07 18:28 ID:rno2obxw [Del]

not a way lol i tried to find some books at a library lol and a woman freaked out when i asked if they had any lol very funny but i dnt get an allowance and the only time i get money is on my bday

88 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 18:31 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

lol yeah, closed minded people will jump to conclusions and might be to afraid to listen. Try selling snacks or small things students might buy. Then use that money to buy more things to sell. Try to make a reasonable profit until you have the money you need.

89 Name: SavageDark : 2011-09-07 18:33 ID:rno2obxw [Del]

well just relized unless wallmart sells them i have no where i can go to get them i live in the middle of no where *sigh*

92 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 18:42 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

101 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-07 19:47 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

A Book of Shadows, or BOS, is a book written by the Wiccan of spells practiced. You take notes on what you did, the moon cycle of when you did the spell, and other things. You can also write rules for your tradition, recipes for snacks eaten after a ritual or during a Sabbat, and a few other things.

125 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-09 00:32 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

It's because Satanists took the pentacle and flipped it upside down, much like they did with the cross, and because of that, ppl see a pentacle and automatically think Satan.

In my late-night boredom i did some reading on wiki about Wicca. The pagan pentagram has the point up resembling the soul/spirit uniting the four elements, whereas the satanic one has the point down to resemble the rejection of the holy trinity (also the two points upward are often the goat's horns). Arm yourselves with knowledge, friends!

>>128 no way really?

131 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-09 16:18 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

Hmmm you might want to try practicing some basics before you actually worry about casting any spells. Practice your breathing, visualization, meditation, things like that. They're important for when you do perform spells.

You might also want to understand what spells are for. They're not meant to curse people, make people fall in love with you, or anything like that. They're to help you

Well last night I was tierd and thought I'd look at som spells and there was a site I found it said Sunny day spell and it had been raining here for ever I tried it went to the weather channel it said sever thunder showers all day and thought there's no way it would work slept woke up to beam of sun light so I was super shocked and there was no rain just sun today and I kept thinking random couemcidence no way it really worked but what if it did

136 Name: Nightshade : 2011-09-09 17:02 ID:4SsJDmMu [Del]

You shouldn't have doubt when you perform a spell because that weakens it. Interesting, but you should really focus on basics before you try another spell. Remember, breathe, meditate, grounding your energy, even shielding.

137 Name: L-Denali : 2011-09-09 17:03 ID:uqqERQTX [Del]

Sorry mods for double post I forgot to add something ^^;. If you are looking more for a tome I would just forget your search right now. You do not buy those things, they find you on their own. Even so if one does decide to be with you I would not mess with the contents of what is inside if you are inexperienced. A friend of mine inherited a skull, and a tome from two witches. By inherit I mean they found their way to her. She never knew the witches personally.

The Wheel of the Year consists of the eight Wiccan holy days which we call sabbats and it is the seasonal cycle of life. These Pagan celebrations are directly linked to the Goddess and God in all their aspects and they are divided into two separate groups – the Greater and Lesser sabbats.

The Greater Sabbats are:

Samhain literally means “summer’s end” and is pronounced “sow-in” or “sow-een.” It is the Wiccan New Year and the third harvest of the year. It is the sabbat from which Halloween was born. The Goddess is in her Crone aspect and the God will die and enter the Summerland only to be reborn again at Yule.

Imbolg means “in the belly" (of the Goddess) and is also known as Imbolc (“in milk”).
It is the sabbat which honors the on-coming of Spring. Candlemas (“candle night”) is the Christianized version of this celebration. The Goddess is in her Maiden aspect and the God in his youth. The Celtic goddess Brigid (pronounced “Breed”) is honored at this time.

Beltane is the sabbat which celebrates the sacred marriage of the Goddess & God. The name was taken from Irish-Gaelic meaning “Bel Fire” or “fire of Bel.” Bel was the God of Light and was also known as Beli or Belinus. It is only one of two times a year that the veil between the world of the living and the world of spirit is thin. Samhain is the other.

Lughnasadh literally means “the chase of Lugh” (Lugh was the Celtic Sun God) and it celebrates the first harvest of the year. This sabbat is also known as Lammas (Irish for “old style”) and is also a mid-evil Christian holiday meaning “loaf mass.” The Goddess is in her Mother aspect, but beginning to age. The God is also getting older.

The Lesser Sabbats are:

Yule is the Winter Solstice. The word Yule was taken from the Norse “Jul” which means “wheel.” This is the sabbat from which the Christian holiday of Christmas originates. The Goddess is a “Triple Goddess” – Maiden, Mother & Crone and the God is born once again of the Goddess.

Ostara which is pronounced “o-stara” is the Spring Equinox and the sabbat from which the Christian holiday of Easter evolved. Much of the Easter lore i.e. rabbits, colored eggs, etc. stems from this Pagan holiday. The goddess Eostre, who was the Teutonic Lunar Goddess of Fertility, is honored at this time. Her sacred animal was the hare. Ostara also celebrates new life with the rebirth of the sun. The Goddess is in her Young Mother aspect and the God, the Young Father.

Mabon, pronounced “may-bone” or “may-bon” is the Autumn Equinox and the second harvest of the year. The name was taken from the Irish “Mabon ap Modron” which means “son of the mother” (Earth). The Goddess and God continue to grow old.

Litha, also known as the Summer Solstice or Midsummer, celebrates the long days and warm weather. Litha is Anglo-Saxon for “before summer” (Aerra Litha). “The Fae” (faeries) are honored at this time and animal blessings and protection spells are usually performed at this time as well. The Goddess is at her peak as Mother and the Father God at his.

Depending upon the tradition, the names of these Pagan sabbats may vary. However, the basic meanings and symbolisms of these ancient earth-based celebrations, for the most part, remain the same.

I asked them how to purify my amethyst ore and he said leave it out for a day in pure sunlight or put it in sea salt. Speaking of things finding you the amethyst found me.

Well, I live kinda close to Dallas, but I can't go to Galveston :( I looked at Arlington, Irving, and Cedar Hill. Couldn't find it anywhere. But I guess I'm really supposed to go down this path.

I was first, I guess in a way, introduced to Wicca a few years ago. My uncle's friend in jail started writing my grandma and he would send magazines, artwork, and books. He sent a couple faerie books and several Wiccan books. My grandma made me get rid of the books, but my curiosity kept getting to me and I finally decided to get into it. 159 Name: Natalea Frost : 2011-09-12 00:34 ID:wtrFxTm0 [Del]

I want to say I started down this path of paganism when I was born. You see my biological mother (I was adopted within the family) practiced witchcraft. Even black magic one time for a short while. She even had the ability to just touch people and know everything about them. She also had me stay up at night, and go to bed during the day. When I was a little girl I read nothing but mythology, and vampire books and folklore. Then when the internet was available in my house I looked up stuff, and decided in 4th grade I would be pagan. I am ashamed to say I put a hex on someone once while I was in Catholic school. Something which I have paid for already. But yea I have a soft spot for vampires.

>>159 Interesting. I wish my life was like that in a way. Instead, I'm sort of the black sheep. I was always naturally drawn to paranormal topics. I chose to stay up late every night for as long as I can remember. That's why I think Wicca is good for me. It's nature based, I love nature and exploring areas with thick trees. The mythology has always been interesting, but I like the dark gods and goddesses that focus on the night and death, like Nyx and Anubis. Magic is mystical in itself. It gives some control in your life. I just wish I had jumped into it a lot sooner.

Well, do what you can when you are able. There's no need to rush things. What you want to focus on is the basics mentioned before. Meditation, grounding, visualization, pathworking, the Sabbats and esbats, mythology, herbs, stuff like that. If your mom asks, tell her you're not studying Wicca, you're just studying plants. Or you're studying nature or mythology. There are ways to learn about it secretly. You just need to know what to say and what not to say.

Thoth's always been a favorite of mine :) God of literature, science, the arts, the mind, the moon, caretaker of the universe, settler of godly disputes; seems like a pretty busy work schedule for one god, especially when you're part of a whole pantheon of 'em, lol.

I haven't found my personal deities yet. I know it'll take time, but I'm getting curious. I'm drawn to the gods and goddesses of the Underworld, so maybe I should start there. There are just so many out there to take into consideration that I'm not really sure where to start looking.

i got wiccan heritage and i can make the dolls, but i do not know any spells:( i know a lady who can give you spells though

190 Name: Nightshade : 2011-10-04 08:22 ID:tNJ8olqz [Del]

dolls as in voodoo dolls? Not really necessary but everyone is different. Spells should come from you. Create your own. However, you should study what Wicca is and the history as well as herbs and mythology before you go about using spells. You need to understand why spells are involved.

191 Name: Amber Divine : 2011-10-04 09:26 ID:kW/hBc4V [Del]

>>188 I don't know much about it. I need to research alot

192 Name: Nightshade : 2011-10-04 12:39 ID:tNJ8olqz [Del]

you have the money for books? If not, there are plenty of Wiccan sites that might be resourceful. I could list a few if you want.

Samhain is approaching my brothers and sisters

194 Name: Nightshade : 2011-10-20 08:18 ID:pkmLlUyN [Del]

I have no idea what to do. I'm thinking of maybe performing my first circle in celebration but I'm not sure what to do once the circle is cast. Maybe just scry? Still don't know at the moment.

195 Name: L_Denali : 2011-10-20 09:15 ID:k2AsLrup [Del]

Well I would advise you to be careful either way. The veil between here and the Otherworld is at it's thinnist on Samhain. If you have the capibility, I would burn sage to clense your casting area of any negitive energies.

I am wiccan, and I recently developed a mental Illness known as OCD and my thoughts race rapidly, thus I cannot focus my intent. Medicine does not help this, Does anyone know how I approach this from a supernatural stand?

202 Name: Thiamor !0UZD1OR/j. : 2011-12-18 12:45 ID:2R5d2NIh [Del]

OCD has nothing to do with concentration.

It's more about obsessive cleanliness, or having to do something a certain way, or collecting stuff (hoarders in most cases suffer from OCD) and if something isn't straight, you'll spend most of your time trying to straighten it out. OCD has nothing to do with concentration.

Bumping this from the dead because this is an absolutely fabulous topic. I am personally very interested in Wicca, especially after hearing some tales about how some of my family members practiced witchcraft when they were younger.

>>124 It's because it's considered a Pagen Tradition, worshiping nature, and in Christianity, worshiping anything other than God (even though it is possible that God is nature) is a blaspheme. Now after a couple of hundred years, the original idea has gotten blurred, so because Christians of old thought of it as evil, today's Christians think:Nature=Blaspheme=Evil=Satan
hence why people think of it as "Devil worship"
.....That's just a theory I have though.

I'm surprised to see so many Wiccan dollars. :O

But, yesh. My family on my mother's side are witches, and it goes back pretty far for generations. I still consider myself a little bit agnostic, however.

Still mostly in the closet with people I know outside of my family. Only a few of my good friends know, only one of which not also being Wiccan them self... everyone else just automatically assumes that I'm Christian, or after getting to know me, mistakes me for an Atheist...

Considering that I live in the Bible Belt, it's honestly a lot better this way.
