Hi, so I found out this morning that a very close friend of mine has passed away. This happened three to four days ago but me and my brother, who was also friends with this guy found out last night, and I found out this morning. Nobody knows how it happened. I really hope it didn't hurt. I don't know what to do. This is a very big loss for me and I don't know how to handle this sudden wave of grief.

He was very kind but a little mischievous and he liked to play jokes. We loved him very much. I loved him. Some part of me thinks that this is just an elaborate distasteful joke of his. I keep waiting for the punch line. His funeral should be sometime next week when school starts. Does anybody have any tips as to how to handle grief or move forward? I am applying to schools soon and I have things due next week which aren't going to change. How do I deal with this?

I would suggest contacting any close relative/friends of his to see if they know. I'm sorry for this loss of yours. Death is something that no one can really prepare for. It sneaks up on us takes us by surprise, sometimes in the worst possible moments. Cherish the moments with this person you knew. Things will take time.
