A year ago I met someone and we've become super close in a short amount of time. I really cherish them as a friend but recently they confessed to me, and I'm really not interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with them simply because they're not my type and also because I think our personalities will clash. They made their confession via text and I'm really bad at replying to heavy text messages like these so I've been avoiding replying to them for 2 weeks. I know it's bad and I know this can hinder our friendship, if it hasn't already hindered it, but I can't find the words to tell them that I'm not interested in a rude way.

hello, I am first of here to say, I feel u dude. I have had this happen one or two times to me and there is no way to put it lightly other than just be honest with them. Don't get me wrong dont be ruthless Abt it- but in my mind I think it's necessary to be as forward with it as possible. After that is out of the way, would reassure them that you still value them as a friend and would like to keep them as a friend, even if you both need some space.
