Long Distance Relationships. Do they work or is it just a waste of time? (2)

So I know this is nothing new, but I've known many people with strong opinions in opposite ends. I personally used to think that LDRs were stupid because you need that special person to be there with you. But then, after randomly finding my current boyfriend online and falling in love, I've definitely changed my mind. Then again, we've been very fortunate to have been able to visit each other in our countries at least twice a year and after 5 years together, we're finally closing the distance to move in together and get married, but I also know that sadly, that's not the same outcome for many distanced couples. So I wanted to know your opinions about it. And if you have been or are still in a LDR, how was or how has the experience been like?

hi i wanna say that im happy for you and your boyfriend! anyway, LDRs all depend on you, your partner, and the amount of effort you guys are willing to put in the relationship imo. personally, LDRs aren't my favorite and i don't even know if i'd do one unless i REALLY like my partner but my older sister is in one and i could tell that the two of them love each other dearly. once again, LDRs are different for everyone, where some would think it's a waste of time while others believe it can work if both are willing to be faithful and put enough effort into the relationship
