If people think you are weird then that's their problem. Not yours. Be who you want to be Takayama. I know being yourself is hard, it really is, but never let anyone tell you that you can't do what you want. I personally think being a furry is cool! I'm not one myself but I love the characters you guys come up with and your cosplays! As for meeting someone, if they don't except your interests then they are not worth it. Period.

You're not weird for being a furry, everyone has at least one thing they like that's out of the norm. Be yourself man, who cares if people think you are strange, its not their opinions you should be worrying about. Personally I don't mind furries at all, most of them aren't harming anyone and they're just keeping to themselves. Dont forget to be yourself is what I am saying.

This is coming from someone who actually thinks furries are really weird. I've actually never had a bad experience with furries so far I just dislike them mainly for their bad connotations. If you break that "norm" there isn't a problem. If people assume then it's their loss for not getting to know YOU. Don't let it be your defining trait because people might make assumptions, just know what you're getting yourself into. But don't let anyone change you.

There is literally nothing wrong with being yourself, even if other people don't like you for it. Go ahead and be the furriest of furries, eat pineapple on pizzas, listen to nickleback, wear those damn thigh high socks in sandles. There are 7 billion people on this planet, if 1 or 100 or 1000 people don't like you, there are still billions of people left.
