I had depression and suicidal thoughts for 3 years and my parents never new that and still don't know. I evetually ended up dating a guy and that helped me prevent myrself from dying but I didn't know that I also have social anxiety and anxiety in general. This leads me to being actually terrfied to ask my parents to hang out with friends because I actually feel sick and get scared. My parents and I arnt even that close anymore and tend to fight and I get punsihed for no reason and i dont know what to do. I really want to overocme this problem but I dont know how. doe anyone have any sugggestions on how to overcome the anxiety of talking to my parents?

Honestly, I'm in the same situation as you. Personally, I'm faking it until I can leave. My parents are very toxic to my life and I'm just waiting it out until I can leave. If you're not comfortable doing this I recommend finding an outlet where you do feel comfortable/at home. I'm so genuinely glad you have your boyfriend who is helping you but I'd say just find an escape.

Often, anxiety exists because we are afraid of being out of control. There's a lot of things that are unknown to us, and nobody has any idea what the future holds. There aren't any easy answers of course, however, you can take steps to address that fear by relinquishing the pursuit of control. By trying to hold on to the control of things that can't be, like other people's thoughts, the future, it tends to pull back on you, dragging you under into depression and anxiety. By the way, I'm only speaking from personal experience, and it took me several years to get to the place I am now, but I've learned to find peace in hard times, and I hope you will be able to as well!
