Army Dollars? (7)

So I've been in the Army for around a year now and am having a bit of a hard time adapting to the infantry lifestyle, a lot of it just really isn't for me and it's been a lot tougher than I'd imagined, especially since I didn't enlist for infantry anyway and am a tad screwed regarding that.
As is it is, though, I'm just wanting to meet like-minded people who are fun-loving and want to live a life smiling and laughing rather then depressed and lonely. I'm stationed at Fort Bliss, TX, if anyone wants to hit me up.

I'm USAF, not Army, so I don't know how likely this is, but if you are not doing well where you are I would recommend retraining to another MOS. If this is an option for you, your First Sargent would know, or be able to point you in the right direction to get information on retraining.

No dice on that front, our battalion is slated to be on call to deploy anywhere on a 72 hr notice so the 1st sgt isn't having any of that😅

I'm going to check with some of my army contacts to see if retraining is something the first sergeant is able to deny people to do. In the Air Force its not like that. If they don't have the authority to stop you from pursuing, you can respectfully tell him that you are going to use the chain of command to move forward. Don't do this until you know that they are not a factor.

So I got with my contacts and it turns out Army First Sgts have significantly more say in the process than in the Air Force. I'm sorry for possibly getting your hopes up for re-classing.

I do not live in your area at all. Like, not even on the same continent, but if you like, we can keep in contact. I was deployed in an E-5 slot as an E-3 with a career field that wasn't even mine, so I really know what its like to not be in your element.

Hey, i don't wanna be a downer but I would say leave the military as i think it's immoral to be part of it. No matter what you're doing in the military you're still contributing to peoples deaths. There are more peaceful ways to resolve international issues. Attacking countries where terrorism is originates will tend to produce more terrorism by radicalising the people who live there. Any military action is evil. America goes on about 911 but they committed a much worse offence by literally nuking a city twice.

Though I do not agree with you on any of your points, I respect your right to say them. Though, I think you should get a bit more educated on the whole story of what happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Unlike the events at Pearl Harbor, the Japanese were warned well ahead of time to evacuate those areas to minimize casualties because we planned to level those cities, and refused to do so.
