I'm in my schools robotics team and known as the dude who's really good in it. This year we got more people new to it and about half of them do nothing but play around with stuff and some of the ones playing around dont even want to be in the team. They've already almost broke several things and we havent even gotten this years game/challenge info. We're doing that tomorrow and my friend who keeps me sane can't make it, but im pretty tight with the teachers involved.

Basically, what should I do about the new kids and what should I do about tomorrow?

I'm going to assume you are in high school.

Regarding the problem, I suggest making a few rules for the team. Tell them that this is a team for a competition and if the only thing they do is screw around and break stuff, they are not allowed to join. They joined a team, so everyone needs to act like one. Also, make sure they know how to do stuff, or else you will pretty much have half the team not knowing what to do.

Teachers should also be present if possible to make sure no student just randomly kicks a robot. If students at your school are pretty mature, they'll behave.

Hoped this helps, even just a little bit.

Also, you are doing an orientation on Sunday? Just curious.

Crap, A lot of the kids at my school seem to don't care what teachers say. I try to help out with any questions people have though.

And no we went to one today, I wrote that really late at night.
