I think it's not super uncommon for students to like their teachers. I can't say I was ever in love with a teacher, but I probably had a bit of a crush on one in high school. So no, it's not weird, it's just attraction. (Depending on your age, it could be really weird for him/her to reciprocate, though.)
Honestly, I think you should do that teacher a favor and don't try to get involved with them. I don't know how old you are, but if you're in middle/high school then you're hopefully old enough to understand that a relationship with a teacher wouldn't be healthy, appropriate, or very feasible in the first place. I say just do your best in their class, be a good student to them, and that's all. Give it time and the feelings might fade, but if they don't fade, then try not to cross any lines.

It's cool if you do. We all have weird crushes in our lives. But please read further down this thread and there's a guy who confessed his love to his aunt and everyone told him not to do it and he did it anyway. It didn't end well. A piece of advice is to keep this to yourself because if you confess to your teacher, it won't end well.

I appreciate the advice, I thought I was weird at first.

I know your issue has been resolved but I'd like to point out that there are laws against student-teacher relationships for a reason.
Despite your probably earnest feelings, your teacher is in a position of power, and thus you can't have an equal, loving relationship by default.
Like the others have said, it is not weird to have these feelings. Personally, I fell for almost all of my math teachers in uni. I just let the feelings fade
