Anyone know any good places in or around Texas to roadtrip to? (1)

So I recently got a new car that I absolutely love. It's a hatchback, good gas mileage, has a ton of space in the back. I have a few points in the year where I have vacation time set up and I'm off from work for about four or five days at a time. If I want to, I can rearrange some days and maybe make my vacation longer.

I'm from Texas. This September, I'm already looking into the idea of going to Port Aransas for my five day vacation I have. I have another five day vacation in November, and I originally wanted to see if a couple friends of mine would be interested in going to Loveland, Colorado. We went last year in the summer and it was amazing! But someone told me that around November is when it starts getting colder, there's more chance of snow, and I'd run into the possibility of getting stuck somewhere if the snow started coming down hard.

That being said, I'm keeping the Colorado trip on hold for a moment, and I plan on consulting my friend who's done a lot hiking around there, and see if he thinks it would be a good trip to make or not.

So I'm coming up with new ideas for where I should potentially travel! Granted, I don't have to travel. I could stay at home and go through the Mass Effect series for the second time, or maybe even play Final Fantasy XIV some more, considering I'm paying for the subscription and hardly using it...

But a road trip sounds cooler!

Does anyone know any interesting points in Texas or maybe near Texas that would be possible to visit on a five to six day vacation?
