Cant Relate/Feeling Judged at School (7)

Okay so, I've come to the conclusion I am mentally mature for my age. I am a teenager, nothing special, just can't relate to the ideology everyone seems to share/preach. To start, people keep pushing us to get jobs so we can 'find ourselves', become responsible, value money, and become independent by leaving home and making mistakes. Personally, I find that this only applies to a select few. I mean, we're all different, come from different background and live different lives. Some families are great, some aren't. All kids are different so why is it we're being taught the same life journey, right? I've not experienced much of what they say but that doesn't mean we won't be able to learn by ourselves… Like, we don't have to 'find ourselves' during our teens; we always change during our entire lives.

Am I in the wrong for feeling like this, without making those mistakes? I'm not lost like I am told I'm going to be, I have already planned which post-secondary school I'm attending with residence. I have also organized plan B and C. I will be I plan to be an entrepreneur with some side jobs (all creative/artsy).

I just feel pressured that even though I already have those qualities without "delivering newspapers at 13"; so I can learn how to spend money (I already know food is expensive).

>>1 I'm not sure how to reply but one thing for sure is that I can relate and I don't judge negatively. Well, whatever you got going, just think it through and act accordingly.

A silver lining is that you'll have some money for college. If you get scholarships then you have money put away for bills too, so you won't need to work as much in college.

You're not in the wrong, in fact I agree with you, I find most people don't really have everything planned out from their teens, i'm currently 21 years old, when I first got into college I met people up to 6 years older than me who have changed concentrations over 5 times, simply looking for what they might think it's their passion. from what you've told us you've already even got your own plans, so there's nothing wrong there, don't give in to peer pressure, as a teen/young adult you'll be expected to be at your wildest, or as movies like to point out, have the most magical soul searching journey or some nonsense to live happily ever after; even though you still have about 3/4 of your life left to grow and learn, but just be yourself really.

I like to think some people just have common sense, and some others, not so much. I've personally made friends throughout high school who are currently college drop outs and jobless, for a wide variety of reasons(but all of their own choice btw), they believe prioritizing something like gaming tournaments or 4 month old relationships over classes or jobs is the way to go, wherever that takes them, well, who knows.

I agree with all of you, thanks. Yea, the world is a mess, I'm sucking it up now so I guess that's just how it's gonna have to be until I graduate. Thanks again!
