I don't know (6)

I'm sorry for this but I'm confused. Does anyone else remember their past? I mean my mom and grandmother remember theirs but I can't. I mean I remember all the boring stuff but I forgot someone I was close too. I don't even remember what they looked like, my mom tells me about how we used to hang out a lot and stuff. I lost my one shot at something with that person. I feel so bad that I can't remember him....still I remember everyone else I met in my life

You aren't alone Pancake. I had a friend who simply couldn't remember anything from before the time that she was thirteen or so. No traumatic event or anything, just no recollection. I myself have no memory of my best friend before four or five years ago. I'm going on 21 now and he insists that we've been friends since elementary school. I feel bad that I can't remember that. It may be like looking at your feelings through a keyhole, but I can sympathize. Maybe it was something traumatic, maybe it's just a trick of your mind. There are two things that I'm certain of though. First, you are not to blame for it; there is no guilt on you. Secondly, and I hope I don't sound to cliche saying this, the past is gone now. There's nothing that you can do to change it. All you have to work with is the present. Two of the hardest things that I've learned to do in life is accept that not everything is my fault and the ability to forgive myself for what is. You're going to be okay Pancake. You're not alone.

We don´t forget, we simply can´t remember.
Means everything is still hidden somewhere in the furthest corner of your mind, you simply have to search at the right place and you´ll find your memory.
Go to places you´ve visited together or search for old photographs and you´ll see that your memory will return.
Every memory returns one day, often at the moment you expect it least.

>>2 The past is in the past - true. Nevertheless, the past is what shaped our current self, we shouldn´t forget people we once held dear; at least not while we´re young. For every occurrence, every person we once met made us the person we are now.

>>3 I agree with you to a point Chronos. My main point is that just because we forget doesn't make us bad people, and that (while shaoed by the past) we are not chained by it.

He was a little vague on that point. Pancake would you mind elaborating? I totally respect it if you'd rather keep to yourself though.
