The art teachers at my school are full of BS they say manga art isn't real art this is discrimination! think of all the detain people put into manga it is a disgrace I am super annoyed at it

This topic is really interesting (although I think it´s a topic worth for the sector of art and not personal - but who cares...)
First of all it would be necessery to clarify the definition of .
I think art is somehow related to aesthetics and aesthetics is related to beauty, isn´t it? And we all know that beauty is something indescribable, something everyone thinks different about. So in other words: There is no definition of beauty. If this is so there also would be no real definition of art, because everyone thinks in different ways about it. So nobody can tell whether manga is art or not.
If you want to get your teacher mad at you just tell him that he can´t state whether manga is real art or not ;P
But let´s ignore the definition just once. I´m studying at an university of art and there is also a course where you can study manga. So if you ask for my opinion: Yes, manga is real art.

They don't hate anime art, its because most people who draw anime art don't learn the fundamentals first and often make anatomy and shading ect mistakes. I'm sure if you learn the realistic human body first then bend it to suit your own tastes they would like it. Remember, when it comes to art the fundamentals are always needed.
