I'm 18 and for the first time ever someone is showing an interest in me. I'm really nervous and not even sure what their intentions are. I have Asperger's and really really really have no idea what to expect. Sorry for the fragmented sentences; I'm still pretty shocked and uncertain. I gave my email address but haven't checked my inbox yet. How do these things usually go?

I haven't been on one, but from what I've seen and heard from people when I was in high school, sometimes people will go to movies, to the park or to a restaurant. Sometimes, people like to have dates at each other's house, so it really depends on where you go. I wish you the best of luck and hope everything goes well. Sorry if I wasn't much help with my info...

I am a girl and he is a guy. I think he is only a few years older. This was super random. We have a class together and he just came up to me and asked for my number. Since I only have a flip phone, I gave my email address. It's just so strange that he asked me. I'm not putting myself down or anything, but we literally hadn't talked at all before this, and there are plenty of other girls in my class.

So that's why I'm a little suspicious of his intentions.
And yeah, I do have a friend I'm talking to, but she's excited about the possibility of me having a boyfriend and I think she may be overlooking the strangeness of the situation.

Hey dream, your concerns and worries are perfectly normal and its good to be thinking of your safety and all that.
First off, you should ask yourself if you want to see this person for a date or even just to get to know them first. Have ypu spoken to the guy before during classes or did he just randomly show "interest"?

Secondly, if you decide to go ahead on a date, you can suggest a public place (movies, park, shopping mall etc) somewhere with other people around is better for your own comfort as well as safety. Ask your friend if she can keep her phone on her or even be nearby as a "this is going bad I need someone to run to that I can trust".

Thirdly, sorry if this sounds concerning or worrying but its better to be thinking about your safety regardless. He could be a totally nice guy who just wants to get to know you. Just have back up plans in place if you decide to go ahead with meeting up with this person. Otherwise there is no harm in politely declining the offer.
