1 Name: Clockwork : 2016-12-26 11:45 ID:ZcqThFuP [Del]

Okay. This is probably stupid, but I don't actually like my own name. It just sounds... Off. I'm someone who likes things to sound beautiful, and mine just sounds wrong. Would it be acceptable to change or add myself a name? I adore the names of fictional characters, because they sound so right and perfect compared to mine.

2 Name: RandomCuteCat : 2016-12-26 12:25 ID:cq0ieinX [Del]

I actually feel the same about my name too, but i think it's on purpose. i think it's so when we hear our names, we pay attention cause it sounds so different.
But if you want to change your name, i think in most countries you can, at a certain age you can go to the council and change it, i think, i don't know much details on it. Or you can just give yourself a nickname and ask everyone to call you that. :)

3 Name: Clockwork : 2016-12-26 19:26 ID:ZcqThFuP [Del]

Actually, my name is really common. That's a reason that I hate it. I know three other people with the same name as I have.

4 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-26 20:57 ID:9HFCbL/1 [Del]

I don't like my name either, so if it helps you're not the only one. My name isn't that common but I dislike it for other reasons. I guess in my case I just have this thing when it comes to names, that I just don't like them most of the time or that something is missing or something. In all honesty I would change my name if I had a name that fit me but whatever that name is I don't know it yet.

My advice/opinion is that if you have a name that feels more "you" than your current name then you should change it, but only after putting a lot of thought into it and being completely certain. We don't choose our own names so in a way it feels like you're more of an individual if you choose your name for yourself.

5 Name: builder396 : 2016-12-27 00:23 ID:i6SAIrD7 [Del]

I used to hate my name too, and it still sas it in my id and anything official. But i hate it with reason. The name wasnt me. It described who i was as much as calling a horse a jeans.
Turned out i was transgender, and now i go by a much more fitting name as far as any personal interaction goes and official name change is on my to do list and things are much better for me,mostly die to transition.

But of course you can hate your name for much the same reason without it having anything to do with gender. I know a guy who is called cookie by everyone becauae he also dislikes his given name.

6 Name: Devil's Counsellor : 2016-12-27 08:31 ID:+BA1nUuG [Del]

There's nothing wrong with changing your name. If you're sure that you don't want your current name anymore, and you've got a name in mind for yourself, go ahead. You're not hurting anybody or anything.

Obviously it's your choice, but I'd recommend you try to not go too over-the-top/fancy for your name though if you do change it. Though it might be awesome just to have, it'll probably be weird in some situations. For example if you wanted to apply for a job, they might think you're a bit cuckoo if you've changed your name into something really unusual.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck.
