Recently I tried out for my school musical. I was sure I landed a part seeing as I had better singing and acting skills than the others who auditioned. I have been often been complimented on my abilities. However, I did not get a main or side role, only ensemble. I know it's very selfish of me, but I'm very pissed off and wonder why I didn't make it.

I know it can be disappointing to not get the role you want, but I don't think you should be too worked up over it. Especially in school musicals, the roles aren't always chosen just based on skill. I'm not sure of you school's situation, but for instance, sometimes they will prioritize choosing students in upper grades since the younger students will have more years to try again whereas the older ones may only have one or two more chances. Also, your school teachers are probably not professionals or something so if you really are as great as you make yourself out to be, they may not recognize it as much as someone who knows this kind of stuff very well.

The same thing happened to me a week or so ago, I don't want to be rude but I am one of the better singers. Yet, I got placed in ensemble, it was very disappointing like a kick in the gut to me. It was for a musical as well.

Oh yes, I know how you feel. Though I was not in the same situation, but I guess life is unfair and in your situation, people choose those they think would LOOK good in roles and it's not about their abilities?
