What is feminism? (15)

1 Name: Rehman : 2016-04-30 10:20 ID:WzDqs4W9 [Del]

So I have been wondering lately, what IS feminism. I mean I know it is about equality between both genders.
But when I hear people talking about feminism, it seems it’s all about how women are stronger than men. Most people I know speak of every man as a monster. Though am sure we all know That’s not true.
Let’s be honest, every women isn’t an angel, the same goes for men.
What do you think?, are they doing right, wrong?

Different feminist believe different things.

Let's go down the memory lane shall we.
It started with patriarchy where men rule and women obey.
Then some social revolutions come along and women begin to enter climb the social ladder and the world of education.

So far so good?
After that comes the problem of unequal wages and gender division in the work place.
Women have been fighting to gain equal positions with men for ages. In western countries, although there are still some gaps here and there, overall it's a great success and women are now also in power.

But as always, revenge is bitter. Men made women suffer for centuries, is it enough to just stand in equal position? No, for true equality to exist they have to learn to suffer like women did (and still do). That's the only way EQUALITY can be achieved. Hence, men are now low-life garbage and women are angels.

I think it also has something to do with the fact that people are fighting non-existent battles that are already fought and won.
In a nutshell: feminism used to be great and now it's a bunch of ideas past the expiry date.

Feminism is supposed to be equality for all genders, however people's selfishness twist and corrupt the meaning to justify their behaviour ("i'm a feminist and all men are pigs")

>>3>>4 pretty much this.

What is feminism? Feminism is fucking fascism in so many ways. At least modern feminism is. I mean they love censorsing ppl they don't like, they block ppl from going to speeches and yeah, freedom of protest and all that shit, but I doubt that means you have the freedom to block ppl from getting into an event. I believe the minority of feminists are actual ppl fighting for equality and the rest are just a bunch of retards (oops, ableist language) who want to make issues out of nothing. Everything is sexist now like wtf.

Sorry, but if we're going to have to say who is more privileged in terms of gender, I'd say it's females. Not in the 3rd world, of course, but here in the West, women are given so much fucking special treatment it's like how can you say men are still superior to you? Cuz they're not. Honestly, I doubt there's many ppl who just look at a woman and think, "Yeah, I can treat her worse because of her fucking gender." HIGHLY DOUBT IT. But that's what feminism does. It gives you a warped perspective of the world. Who is telling women that men are superior? FEMINISTS! Who is pushing on and on that there's a fucking rape culture in the West? FEMINISTS. Who says women are judged solely on their beauty? FEMINISTS.

Also, they fight for equality, right? I highly doubt they'd consider themselves MRAs. I mean you could spend one fucking minute on any feminist website and just read so many stupid headlines. This isn't a fight for equality, this is a fight to gain as much special treatment as possible. *rolls eyes*

Lol, well, end of rant. You should watch this. She's a feminist, but she uses facts.

I don't like the term 'feminism' used to mean gender 'equality' because it sounds.....feminine? I don't like neo-masculinity either.

How about *uninism*?

Watch Paul Joseph Watson's videos about feminism on YouTube and you'll get an excellent idea.

I agree with that smart lady in the vid in that intersectional feminism does cause a splintering. However, all the in-fighting might be because everyone is only coming to terms with how different they are- they want to define themselves by contradiction and by seeking acknowledgement- like a rebellious teenager?

As that lady said, it's a new concept, it will take time for our society to properly adjust to it..

personally, I think everyone deserves acknowledgement, because it would just be shitty to ignore someone's pain for the sake of maintenance of society

Maybe in-fighting is something groups of intersectional feminism will grow out of?
As messy as intersectional feminism might be, is it something worth developing? I ask because if everyone is aware of how different everyone is, then they would understand each other better-- and with greater mutual understanding, we can work together better for a brighter future (eww.. that was really cheesy, but yeah...)

(maybe this teenager will shape up to be a a responsible adult?)

If the world is smart there wouldn't have been any need for feminism in the first place.

>>8 PJW is fucking great.
Link to his playlist on feminism One of the first ppl who got me aware about the fucking stupidity of this movement.

>>9 yeah i agree, everyone deserves acknowledgement lol. I feel like intersectional feminists probs won't grow out of that in-fighting until the whole "oppression" and "privilege" social hierarchy shit dies down, b/c they base a lot of that on it. They pretty much bring race, sexuality, and other factors into the mix of this that it's no wonder the idea of an intersectional feminism would get convoluted.

>>10 the world is stupid though lol and it's only getting worse everyday.

reacting to their misdirected anger with more anger or exasperation at their ignorance probably won't help the the whole "oppression" and "privilege" social hierarchy die down though- if anything, it would fuel it...

and, to continue the rebellious teenager analogy, talking down to them like PJW kind of does also won't help..

so i guess, to direct their energy to better uses, it would be better to implore or encourage them to be more aware of how 3rd gen feminism is harming feminism.. (to help them get to the maturity I mentioned in the earlier post)
and I say this because, even though 3rd gen fem may be misdirected, it has a lot momentum- so redirect it instead of beat it down

>>12 Redirect modern feminism? As if they'd even listen. They have a "sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will fucking kill me" mentality. And unlike them, the ppl who are against that movement really do encourage feminists to be aware of how the 3rd wave is horrendous. They usually deem it as hate speech.

Feminists stand outside blocking entrance to speeches held by ppl they don't like or pulling down fire alarms or harassing ppl who go to those events, because they don't like the speeches or events being held. They are trying to get rid of freedom of speech, why the fuck would we not be angry or exasparated?

The way you're trying to resolve this, I feel is like they're children, I suppose with the whole comparing them to rebellious teens and considering most of the newest wave is our millennials generation, right? Well, I mean that's still setting them up for disaster. The reason why us millennials are going to fail in life is because of how fucking sheltered we are and feminism is just another form of this shelter. In life, everyone will have different opinions and if you can't think about those opinions for a second on your own--not guide them, because they have the capability to do it on their own regardless of how they're being talked to--then it's going to be really hard for feminists to unindoctrinate themselves from their cult.

Honestly, they just need a savior. =/

14 Name: firefly : 2016-05-01 03:23 ID:4RUXDf/D [Del]

lol, they do need a savior

but what I would disagree with is that not everyone has the same capacity to to think about others' opinions.. like how everyone differs in levels of creativity or diff ability to plan ahead (probably a cognitive science thing)

i just think this reaction against feminism is another, wider form of in-fighting (separate but similar to the in-fighting amongst intersectional feminists)

in the end, it's another thing that divides and distracts us from uniting to address more pressing social issues- divide and conquer
