There is a checkbox towards the top right of the text input area when you click 'New Reply,' it's labelled "Sage:". Clicking this tells the site you don't want to send the thread back to the top of the board because there's a new reply. That's a Sage. When members say '/sage' at the end of a reply, it's because the post they replied on was deemed inappropriately placed or made. A bump is when someone posts a minimal amount of information in a reply to a thread, with intent for the thread to be sent back to the top of the board for people to read the original post.
