You ever wear a mask for so long you forget who you were before? I finally think I've reached that point, I don't know who I am anymore. Looking at my body, my hands, my face nothing feels like I'm me anymore. Or maybe this is me, and now the old me is dead and gone. If so, where'd that wide eyed kid go? That bubbly, sociable, and outgoing person? Who am I anymore? I just don't know anymore, can anyone help me?

Now I'm like you. I've been wearing a mask for 3 years and I don't know how to react in some situations,... This is also because depemding on the person, I had use one type of mask and with other kind of persons other masks. For example, with my friends I was a funny person and without respect for anything, but with my best friend I'm respectful and very polite. I wanted to change, to became one person instead of been 5 types of person at the same time, but I didn't how to be, so I just fused all my masks into one, picking the best things of each one with I was more comfortable. Now, some months later, I feel better, like I am a normal person xD. I know it's difficult, but you can do it. I recommend you to pick up the best things of your mask and fuse them with your truthly identity or personality. I hope I can help you. If you want to contact me: shibuya.dollars@gmail.com :P

It´s really sad to hear that there is other people dealing this kind of things and honestly I really thought that I was the only one struggling with this problem. The earlier you realize that you are wearing a mask the better. I´ve been wearing my mask ever since my mum decided to move in with my stepdad, this resolved that I had to change school. At first I was pretty excited to meet new people but the first days was horrible. People didn´t found me interesting and I didn´t fitted in the "groups" so I decided to change my image and that image became who I am today. I have been wearing a mask for 7 years, at this point it´s really hard to break trough. People these days only see this crazy/murderous/joking type of girl. One of my classmates used to call me for a murder and told me that I could easily murder a few people in my town. Whenever I try to say that that person isn´t the real me nobody believes in me or take me serious anymore. My advice to be the true you is either crush your mask and restart everything. It will probably be hard but in the end you can smile from the bottom of your heart. Or you can just start to change small things, in time people around you may or may not notice the small changes around you.

masks are things we wear to protect ourselves. at my job, it's really good to have the mask called "professional". but it's a mask that i don't wear outside work, just like a suit that i can take on and off.

masks are good when dealing with difficult people, but they will make you lose your self if they become permanent.

shattering a mask that has gotten stuck, isn't necessarily the best thing to do. it can be very shocking to bothe yourself and others, and stuff may get so chaotic that you instantly regret and create an even more rigid mask just to regain "control".

i would suggest that you start with identifying parts of your mask which you don't really need, and shave those off carefully until you can find your true self again.

such unneeded parts my be things like a way you talk, how you respond to particular situations, clothes you wear for other people's sake rather than becuse you like them, etc.

i used to ask myself such questions... blah blah here.. blah blah there..

you know what,

ACCEPTANCE is the KEY to be TRULY FREE.

Accept reality. Accept yourself are you are now. cause seriously, there are only few things constant.

CHANGE.
GREED.
EGO.
PRIDE.
STUPIDITY.
LIES.

those are the only things that lasts forever.
not you, not your seatmate, not NZPIEFACE, not Robo, not FindMuck, not Rora-chan, not me, NO ONE.

The YOU today is still YOU like yesterday, and YOU tomorrow. you just grow, appreciate, got hurt, faced reality, cried, got angry. you just learned something.

You are still you. whatever happened to you, those happened out of choices, changes and chances.

every you whether emo, bubly, happy, all those emotions, alter egos are part of well,

YOU

you just have to accept it.

And here's someone who wears a pie instead of a mask~

>>7
Easy with the capslock.

>>every other post
a few things::
1. It's not a unique problem. Everyone have them to some extent. EVERYONE.
2. Everyone was pure at heart when they were children. Blaming other people for corrupting you is self-denial.
3. The 'self' you people keep talking about is actually fluid. Ask yourself this: are you trying to deny your current self by clinging to the idea of your past self?

you are who you are
if you feel youve become the mask you wore then its no longer a mask
people change
stop worrying you about who you are or if youre real or a mask
just live

whatever personality you got, the fact is that, you choose to be like that.

even if you dont want it, you're letting yourself change.

Change is normal.

you simply have to accept yourself.
