I can only give facts not theories, but this definitely should not be on here if this is for a homework assignment. I will give you a fact, but I will sage. Unplanned pregnancies are usually caused by people who forget to take birth control (or forget to wear a condom, though that doesn't stop pregnancies). But also, it is caused by the birth control not actually working. And if you watch a tv series about unplanned pregnancies, you could get the theories and facts there. But there is no real harm to the baby UNLESS the mother has been: drinking alcohol, smoking, intense exercise, and not eating enough. But as long as someone stays healthy, the baby should not be harmed.
